Check check.

I received the letter from the administrators last week and ignored it, knowing that nothing will come from Myhab in terms of a refund.

This morning, I've checked my bank and it appears that Yorkshire Bank Plc have credited me the monies.

One donation to Eavis and Co on it's way.

Stick it to the man. Dunlop, that is. LOL

I sent a detailed letter to my bank, with all printouts of all correspondence between me and myhab (which was very one sided!) and receipts, printouts from the announcements on GFL's website etc.

They said (on the phone) that it's over 120 days since I booked / purchased, so they cannot promise anything, but it appears to have gone through.

Great news!

Going to post my details off tomorrow, hopefully get it back soon enough.

Just one question, did you send them the email from MyHab where they said the Green Tent company would be providing the alternative accomodation??

Did they ask about that at all?

Some *very* good news on the refunds front then :)

Unless GFL or ME come back with something else, I did mention a while back about setting up a JustGiving stylee page to receive an appropriate amount from refunds that have been obtained. However, perhaps These Guys would be a much better option in reality because apart from taking less money out of donations, you can apparently also support multiple charities at the same time. This means that, for instance, all donations could be divided equally between Oxfam and WaterAid. I can't find Greenpeace listed but if they are or could be added to the list of available charities then all 3 of the usual Glasto do$h recipients would get their fair share of all donations *AND* the Govt would have to cough up a sizeable amount in Gift Aid into the bargain !!

Yeah, I know, it's perhaps a tad cheeky expecting to claim GiftAid on such potentially large donations given the circumstances but screwing a li'l do$h out of the Govt for someone else's benefit rather than it always being the other way round sounds just fine and dandy to me :P However, it might be best just to make sure it would be legal and above board and all that if considering this route but I would suspect the chances are that those who will be in a position to make a sizeable donation will probably also be paying way more than sufficient tax to make claiming GiftAid a perfectly acceptable thing to do.

Also I think peeps should perhaps bear in mind that it isn't really the banks and credit card companies various who are paying for these refunds - you can bet your bl**dy life on them ensuring that ALL their customers ALWAYS pay for any such losses in one way or another via all the various charges they make <_< I would suggest that Banks etc are highly unlikely to make even 1p less in profit than they usually do because of making these and other similar refunds. So IMHO, seeing that every customer of every bank is effectively paying for these refunds, it's totally appropriate for virtually all of any refunds received to be donated to Glasto charities *AND* for the Govt to put their hand into their own pocket to pay their fair share as well. Think of it as bit of a Robin Hood stylee deal but without all the bows and arrows

it's good to see you guys getting some results with this, I really thought anyone who hadnt paid with a credit card would have zero chance of a refund, so I am amazed to see cash slowly trickling in.

This thread is a very good lesson in what you can achieve with some persistance!

As for people moaning about off site posh camping, I really cant see the problem. Save your wrath for the corporate camping that is ON site and taking up masses of prime camping spots. They are the real shitbags here.

afraid i've yet to receive a reply from GFL on this - although they have said it is with Michael's office for consideration.

not sure if Neil has any contacts or can put any weight behind getting a response? if he doesn't see this i'll PM him and ask tomorrow....

B)

it's now tomorrow, he's PM'd me, and so I've mailed a contact at GFL to see if I can get an answer.

I'll post back here if/when I get a reply.

Have been watching this post for quite a while now, as we too had booked with Myhab. Think we're getting refund through Visa, as we paid with them & been wondering how to forward the money to a Glastonbury charity. However, seems ME & GFL are too busy to advise us, so will have to forward it to Oxfam or Wateraid direct. Big thanks for helping us out, though tents were pretty poor (you had to be there  ) but advice on what to do with our refunds has been lacking to say the least!!

fair point given that response from GFL has been less than overwhelming.

would point out though that i'm not in the business of self-aggrandisement, i merely would have liked GFL to have the opportunity to tell us how they would like the money handled. if they don't have any clear opinion on that then fair enough - and i'll put it down to keeping admin costs etc to a minimum as iloveglasto suggests.

there you go then folks...individual choice on what you do with any refund or element of that you wish to pass back to GFL. cheers all for your generosity.

Just read my message back, it does sound much more shitty than I intended. I thought I wrote it in a lighthearted way but that doesnt come across at all - apologies.

I do think it is a poor show of GFL not even to give you a reply. One phone call saying "split it between the charities" would not incur administration costs etc, but perhaps there is some kind of legal technicality that prevents them from doing so - I cant imagine what though.

Also, I wonder if the expensese raised from this whole business were covered by insurance. Probably likely so there is a possibility that M Eavis wasnt actually paying out of his own pocket so to speak, though there are of course implications of higher premiums next time round due to a claim etc.

Hi, Just to let you all know i got my money back off Halifax this morning without too much trouble. Once i'd sent them the administration letter i got that was all they needed. I did pay on credit card though so was protected under the section 75 consumer credit act. Good luck to the rest of you!
