Day Tickets

Do you believe them?

I don't. :D

I'll beleive it when it sells out.

Besides, i think March is WAY to early to be able to make that decision (unless the fest was going to sell out within weeks). IMO it's a cynical attempt to call peoples bluff. I can't see it selling out on wkend tickets alone given the current line up and competition.

It sold out last year, so they will unlikely be doing day tickets, the big four and slipknot alone will sell a lot tickets and will encourage people to get weekend ones.

In the unlikely event they do sell day tickets, i wouldn't expect them to do so until a week or so before the fest, or maybe even leaving them for selling at the gate. Prepare to be disappointed!

The fact Soni sold out last year has no bearing whatsoever on whether day tickets get released this year. Also, sure it sold out, but only after day tickets were released. And wasn't it only the iron maiden day?

Yeah I remember it selling out last year and your right it was only for the iron maiden day. and I cant see the "Big" 4 selling out as it is old news now and Biffy Clyro wont sell out as they are shit. The only day I reckon will sell out is the Sunday but it wont sell out unless they do the day tickets

The other point is Big 4 and slipknot are UK exclusives whereas Biffy aren't. (With biffy headlining smaller festivals and playing support slots for the foos at MK bowl.)

I'd like to get a weekend ticket and see all 3 but the rest of the line up is pretty weak IMO.

I don't think those 3 headliners have a broad enough appeal to sell the weekend out on weekend tickets alone. And thats why I think day tickets will be released.

If it was close to selling out, I think we'd have heard by now. ;)

Official line from Sonisphere - http://uk.sonispherefestivals.com/news/ballot-for-day-tickets/:

In response to an overwhelming number of requests, we have been able to secure permission to put a strictly limited number of day tickets on sale via THE POWER BALLOT scheme. Due to the huge demand for day tickets anticipated, and the limited number that can be made available, we have decided to use a ballot system as we believe it is the fairest way to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to obtain tickets. Fans should sign up at before 23rd May, when the ballot closes. You may apply for as many days as you like in order to increase your chances, although full weekend tickets work out much cheaper than three separate day tickets, and is the best way to enjoy all that SONISPHERE has to offer and get the full festival experience.

Successful applicants will be informed which day(s) they can purchase tickets for via email on May 25th. Each customer may purchase up to four tickets for their allocated day. Tickets will be £80/day plus booking fee.

What a load of crap this ballot is. where is the point in it. cant they just sell day tickets like a normal festival. I have been going to sonisphere since the start of it and they have been selling day tickets. they have really let me down this year with 2 day of crappy bands and expensive tickets

I remember when there were more competition winners went than patrons.

And I'm not sure where this overwhelming demand has come from. There has been a few small threads online asking about it. Will be interesting to see if the demand is there.

Its a sneaky way of trying to get more weekend tickets sold, if people think they are unlikely to 'win' the chance to purchase the day ticket of their choosing then they may buy the weekend one instead. Also lets them see how poplular the day tickets are and they will release a certain number accordingly, more likely more day tickets for the less popular days and less day tickets for the more popular day (hoping that more people from this list will buy a weekend instead). Or is this just me being cynical? :P

Find it amusing the i remember when's - the fest is only in its third year! More competition winners than patrons, i don't think so, i admit they were giving away a lot in year 1 but pretty sure they sold a lot more than they gave away or they wouldn't have been able to do year 2 or expanded as much as they did across Europe. Plus what other fest was offering free tickets to another fest in Europe when you bought your UK ticket as they were in year 2?!

Also the narrowmindedness of people, just because you don't like some of the lineup, there are thousands of others who prob do, shock horror not everyone likes exactly the same lineup as you. Saturday is looking the weaker of the 3 days to me, but still pretty sure it will be an awesome weekend as the first 2 years have proven to be.

I was joking about the competition winners bud, I maybe should have put and icon in there. :D What I meant to say was 'I was there year 1 and made you, YOU OWE ME11!!!'

And i do share your cynical view regarding the ballot and the price point being put in place to drive weekend sales. :D
