Hi, justs starting to get ideas of how to pimp the kids garden cart/trolley we use to pull them around in.

Does anyone have pics of theirs from other years, perhaps we need to have a cart parade!

Cheers :D

We're thinking of getting one of those garden trolleys but we're unsure as to how we'd make it weather proof so if anyones done this or has got any tips/pics then I'd be interested in seeing them.

Could anybody please recommend a wagon/trolley for said purpose of carting around kids? One that would fit in an average (not estate) car and seat two youngish children. Oh and not cost the earth either...thanks

This kind of thing...

(A stranger's kids, but I asked permission to take the photo)

It's ace in any case, but carnival style decorations would be awesome. Turn it into Cinderalla's carriage, or a stagecoach, or a space shuttle, or a dragon, or a snail, or... or... or...

That's along the lines of what I was thinking, I guess it shouldn't be too difficult for me to rig up some kind of sun shade (a rain cover will of course not be needed), I'm just reluctant because my DIY skills are comparable to an otters.

Edit: Those umbrellas are lovely, good pic, definately art! ;)

this is kind of the thing we saw:

but they'd used bendy tent poles to make the canopy more like this: (shockingly bad drawing)

and then used flowers and beads to decorate it. The liners are usually waterproof - it depends how old your kids are - when mine were younger used to use a sheepskin liner in their prams as it kept them warm when they were cold but wasn't too hot if the weather was warm, plus it was all nice and 'smooshy'

Oooh, love this thread...

This is our glasto wagon...was originally a garden cart, but gets bits added to it every year! Now has a built in cool box, decent solar fairy lights, rear led's, detachable sun/r-word shade, sit on front for bigger kid and storage compartment underneath for camping stools!

The kids absolutely love adding bits to it each year, and lots of people stop us to ask where we got it...had a long conversation with a woman in the kidz field about the viability of setting up a rental business!! (After much cider and an hour or two we agreed that it's not viable  )

Just need to find a way of keeping worse for wear adults from trying to climb into it for a kip  A sharp cry of 'oi, there's a baby in there' normally works ok though lol!

Right, I still can't work out how to quote in a post  so I'll go through bit by bit...

First, Matt, don't feel inadequate...our cart looked v different 3 years ago, and the rainwear consisted of black bin bags...it's an evolving project!

To those who have asked: It was always a wooden garden cart - bought from Axminster about 5 years ago. We took off and replaced all the original wooden and side panels (kept these as between festivals it reverts to carrying garden rubbish!)

The canopy is supported by cut tesco value hula hoops :P

The canopy itself is heavy duty treated canvas. The whole canopy can be lifted off the wagon, which is handy as it's actually quite tall when all put together!

I can't claim much of the credit though - my husband did most of the work, with me and the kids telling him what we wanted, designing and decorating.

Thank you all for saying nice things about it :D

Sarah's Glasto wagon is the best kids wagon I've seen (last year). It's inspired me to build something similar, and hopefully my creation will be making its debut this year.

Coolbox is essential. I'm hoping to fabricate a coolbox holder like the one on the back of this cart:
