The Nal
Anyone see Metallica and Lou Reed last night? I thought it was really good. Good to see Kirk and Rob singing too, looks like they're having fun! I like the way Metallica are always willing to have a punt with something as opposed to other "safe" A list bands like U2 or the Stones or any of the other "biggest bands in the world" like The Killers, Kings of Leon etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toP57rDQtPE Edited November 9, 2011 by The Nal

The Nal
I love Metallica and I like Lou Reed but I thought it sounded awful. I do agree though, fair play to them for trying something different and they seemed to enjoy it. Edited November 9, 2011 by The Nal
metallimuse
I think it really is fun for Metallica as for them in their minds there is no pressure. It's not an official Metallica album so there is no stress over it,it's a labour of love and something different for them to do after all these years of the same constant cycle. I respect thier decision to do it. Having said that I thought it sounded rubbish.I liked the music but I guess I just can't get my head around something I know to be Metallica playing yet featuring the vocals of Lou Reed.Felt like a bad ''mash up'',I believe that's what the kids call it anyway lol. 5co77ie
My wife liked the fact James has tried cutting his hair different to look a bit less old than the bumbling middle aged man he looked last summer!
t8yman
That was fuckin bollocks, people slag off ozzy for rambling along- call it brave all you like, it was a poor song performed badly. But I'll give them one thing- its 100x better than "the view" which is basically unlistenable.

pothead pixie
I love the show if you see the shite thats on RTE television in Ireland, Jools is like a godsend when you can see it. I liked the recent Peter Gabriel performance with the New Blood Orchestra, especially the track Rhythm of the Heat. Face it, there aint much else on except for Sky Plus brutal summer festival coverage, occasional stuff on Channel 4 or the same old, same old amount of digital music channels. BBC 4 being the best for music docs and old Top of the Pops sometimes.
The Nal
I don't give a shit, this is fucking badass. Absolutely loving it. Sounds way better than the record. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fpa_VykXj4c His interview here is great. grumpyhack
Saw the excellent Glenn Tilbrook again last night, doing a mix of solo acoustic plus a second set with some of The Fluffers - Lucy is taking a break after having a baby. A great songwriter and superb performer. The night didn't end with quite the chaos of this set from Glasto in 2008, which really is the way to say that you've reached the end and no more encores are possible To appreciate his songwriting and perfromance this is Glenn when he was on his old Squeeze mate Jools Holland's show a few years back. joe1990
just watching jools, Noel had a slight disagreement with jools, jools asked Noel what song he would be doing next Noel said "he didnt no" then after that young solo artist, jools said Noel wont be coming back on because there isn't time. even tho it seemed like he was supposed to. what's going on there? The Nal
Because Jools is a terrible interviewer and he has no idea whats going when he's talking to people. Noel was only scheduled to do one tune.
