When to get there?

Hey everyone

It will be my first year at Glastonbury this year and would really appreciate any advice anyone can give me...

Firstly when should we aim to arrive?? I know the gates open on Wednesday but should we get there for Wednesday or would thursday be alright to turn up?

Where is the best places to camp? Also any other survival tips would be great!

Okay, get there as soon as possible Wednesday. Treat it as part of your holiday, wander, mingle, drink, smoke, sleep, whatever. Arrive on Thursday and you'll see why you should have got there earlier.

The earlier you get there, the more likely you are to get a peachy camping spot.

If you arrive late on the Thursday, you'll still get a comfortable spot if you ask the camping stewards where there's space, and don't mind being further from the heart of the festival.

It's a nice place to be throughout Wednesday and Thursday.

So in conclusion, coming early is a good idea. But if work/social/home commitments make that difficult, it's not the end of the world if you arrive later.

I used to arrive late because it seemed a bit much to abandon my (now ex-) girlfriend that length of time, because I wanted to conserve my days off from work, and because the mates I was travelling with had similar constraints.
