Windinglake Farm...

I spent 2003 and 2004 there. My mate got me in(long and boring story). It's quite pleasant and all that, there were loads of music industry people when we went but don't know what it's like now. I'm not really into hiding in exclusive corners but the on site bar and showers are nice. It's just not Glastonbury for me though. It's also ball achingly expensive!

I stayed at Windinglake Farm in 2009 and am again this year. Once you've done it there's no going back to the regular camping melee. Walking into Glastonbury every morning freshly showered etc is a wonderful thing. Also at the end of the night you can go into the converted stone barn known as 'Mark's bar' and watch the BBC footage from during the day over a last beer.

It's a 10 minute walk to an entry gate or there's a couple of Windinglake minibuses that will drop you off and pick you up (at gate C on that map) every 20 mins or so. The tickets they provide are also the backstage area ones (almost double price from regular tickets though) where you can chillout and star spot and use the cleaner facilities not to mention cut through to the other stage in half the time.

It cost us a shade over £800 each for the Windinglake pass, tent pitch and backstage ticket this year but if you can afford it, it is money well spent as you feel like royalty, right from driving in and being waved past all the regular queues and roadblocks with the provided car ID, to the unique backstage wristband.

And you can park your car next to the tent too enabling locking away of valuables (even though the site has 24hr security) and being able to run power from the car to pump up airbeds etc. The pitch is about 20' x 20'.

I am going to Windinglakes this year - failed to get a normal ticket like so many others but just couldnt miss out - and if its just a place to sleep with clean showers and toilets then whats not to like? Also its an age thing - Years ago I started camping up in Williams/ Dragon field and had my share of floods - then moved to campervan fields for a few years - now Windinglakes. I imagine the atmosphere early hours is non-existent ( like campervan fields tbh ) but I need sleep at night nowadays...sad but true!

Had tickets for an after show / album launch thing in 2005 at Windinglake Farm that was put on by Heavenly I think. The Mrs and I got hammered then fell asleep in front of our tent. Woke up at 3am and remembered our wristbands we were given, so walked off site and to the farm. 20mins I'd reckon. Turned up close to 4am and got told we were too late. On the wristband it said 11pm til late. So we screamed at the security who wouldn't let us in .... 'THIS IS GLASTOBURY, 4AM DOESN'T COUNT AS LATE'.

An almost compeltely unrelated story. Beware annoying people like us.

£800?!??!??!??!??!!!!!!
