Free P.A. Tickets ?

1 of our group (steve) is registered blind and has applied for a personal Assistants ticket so that he can bring along his sighted guide.

He has recieved an email from Glasto saying his application has been successful. However it appears his assistant does not actualy get a ticket printed and just turns up with Steve.

I am sure Steve will get all the details soon but has anyone ever gone in on a P.A ticket before ?

What do we do when we get there ? Do we need to go to a particular gate ? Box office ?

Anyone know how it works ?

My mum was there last year with my dad as her PA. They received a sticker/label to gain access to the designated disabled parking areas. You will need to have this showing before you get into the car parks as the stewards will direct you from the roads. This sticker will let you know which car park and gate you need to head to.

Once you get parked up there is a portacabin which is where the PA will get their ticket and wrist bands. Then you get on a mini bus with all your camping stuff which will take you to the disabled camping site. There are volunteers to help with your stuff and you also have your own spot picked out ready.

Glastonbury are brilliant for anyone disabled. My mum and dad loved it so much they are going back again this year.

Also, the PA will need to take photo ID with them to get their ticket/wristband.

Hope that helps but any questions let me know :)

Just to add I am registered blind and again have secured a PA ticket and disabled camping access. As Emma says turn up with your named carer and they have a ticket and wrist band waiting for you.

The disabled camping field is brilliant.

Tips

Ask for a cut through access pass for the pyramid. It means you can use the disabled loo's there and also cuts a big swath off your journey.

I have MS and the heat was a big issue last year, use the showers they really do make a massive difference.

Don't be shy in asking for help from the staff at the campsite

Ask to be camped nearer the loo's as if they have a little vision (like myself) direct lines to the loo's make all the difference without millions of guy ropes.

If you have friends who wish to come and see you in the site they will need a wrist band. These can be picked up on site in the disabled camping tent if you meet your guest at the entrance and then ask.

I am sure you will all have a brilliant time and hope to meet you at the communal camp fire!

Thanks for the tips Strudders.

Steve is still waiting for confirmation on whether we are all allowed in. There are 5 of us wanting to camp together you see. Steve, his P.A and us 3 mates. Not sure if we are too many to be allowed in yet or not. We don't want to take advantage and take up valuable camping space for people more needy than ourselves.

Do you think 1 blind fella with 4 mates will be acceptable in the disabled campsite?

Steve has tunnel vision and what vision he does have is quite bad. He says he can see virtually nothing in low light so guy ropes will be his biggest nightmare. We are arriving by coach on Thursday so we are concerned about being able to find a suitable spot for him in normal camping. If we were arriving Wednesday it would not be too bad and we would not even ask to be considered in disabled campsite but alas Thursday tickets are all we could get.

If we were all allowed in then we are planning on all sharing the guiding of Steve and not just let his P.A do all the work. Do you think we would all be allowed a cut through pass?

Cheers Strudders and hopefully we will be able to meet you at the campfire.
