oldbird
I'd just plait it or put it in a ponytail really and wash it every other day when there's nobody at the taps. I have long hair at the moment but am hopefully getting it cut to more manageable length for Glasto as I can't be bothered with it.
Nyika
PLEASE don't wash your hair at the taps even if there isn't a queue, it causes MUD Take a collapsible washing up bowl and do it at the tent
featherboa
I have thick naturally wavy hair and I always ask my hairdresser to thin my hair out before Glasto - basically they cut some of the thickness out of it so it is easier to handle - and it dries quicker when I wash it. I use the litre bottle of water at my tent and take one of those microfibre towels as they suck all the water from your hair so it dries quicker. I know it sounds vain to some to wash your hair at a festival, but if I didn't look after/wash mine I think it would form so many knots that i wouldn't be able to brush it again! tinselmouse
I have the Braun cordless straighteners. They're alright, not amazing and don't come anywhere close to GHDs, but they do the job.
Bubblepopelectric
Have to say I feel pretty miserable if I haven't washed my hair at least every other day. Therefore I have treated myself to a solar shower with collapsible bowl, AND gas straighteners (which are pretty cr@p tbh, but better than nothing). With this, I will feel so much more human. My sister (who I am going with) can go a lot longer between washes (lucky her - but we are all different!).
FluffyFairy
I colour my hair every 2- 3 months and I've found that if I colour and style it the Wednesday morning it stays nicer for longer (compared to if I just styled it in the usual way) Other than that its dry shampoo, hats, creative plaits, buns, head bands, hair scarfs etc that get me through the festival. JennyMc
Every year I read things like this, and think washing my hair will be a great idea. Then I get there ans have loads of fun and forget i haven't washed my hair. (That is until we stop at a service station on the monday morning and all of a sudden I feel like the scum of the earth when confronted with clean normal people!) LusciousLucy
In a Solar Shower thread on Chat, Detective McNulty suggested the following to help with hair washing. Take an empty 4 pint milk(/cider!) carton with lid. Drill holes into the lid. Fill with water (warm if you can from your gas stove and a saucepan). Hold upside down et voila - a shower! I always find having a mate help with getting rid of the suds on your bonce helps as this speeds up the process and reduces water use. It is afterall a little bit of a patting head rubbing tummy experience trying to pour water over your own head whilst holding a bottle and lather and wash out entirely simultaneously. Another thing that surprises me is just HOW quick outdoor camping hairwashing can take in comparison to being under a regular shower at home. You want it to be over quickly cos of the temperature if not using warm water and its all over in less than 2 minutes! A bit of brain freeze thrown in for good measure and you are ready to face another day.
RedLemon
Also, pleeeeeese no washing of hair at the taps, it right pisses folk off when folk are trying to get water. Edited June 10, 2011 by RedMissed

RosieFreckleface
For me it's a combination of Batiste dry shampoo & a solar shower by the tent once or twice - lovely & refreshing...if a little cold! I have to confess to gas straighteners too... Never used the showers but I hear that if you go either really early or late afternoon, the queues aren't too bad/non-existent. AnnaGrant
Advice-hat from day 3, or wash hair in a bowl. Just bought a lovely new hat to cover sun or rain; spf50 to protect me against the scorching sun we are expecting, and water repellent and large brim to keep the rain off my glasses- but it won't rain (fingers and toes crossed). brightyoungthing
My hair is really thin and gets greasy at an annoying rate! I swear by batise dry shampoo, it's only about £1 in Savers/Superdrug/Boots and keeps your hair pretty fresh If we get hot weather like last year though HAIR GRIPS at the ready! a bit of back-combing and grips can make the greasiest hair look okay, although i wouldn't worry too much cause as you know there's way more to do than do your hair!! If it absolutely needs a propper wash.. fill up a 5L waterbottle at the taps (dont wash it there!) and burn holes in the top... gives you a 2-3 minute shower, perfect to get your hair washed! GOD SEND last year:) xx
