Where's best to camp for a newbie latercomer?!

Hey everyone, Glastonbury 2011 is my first and I'm very excited! We're arriving on a coach Thursday afternoon so just wondering where the best place to camp is (which won't be full by then!) Also any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello and welcome

Question to you...how many are the 'we' and how big and how many tents are you bringing? Small tents obviously can squeeze into small places better than a huge 6 man.

The West side of the site there are newer camping grounds since the site expanded, they will and do have space to spare even on a Thursday. The field just past Pedestrian Gate D has a bit of space as its a bit far west. Dairy and South Park will have space at the far end...

but do on a arrival speak to the yellow tshirted campsite crews. They may not always give the best information but it is their job to know where space still is available.

Coming by coach means you will be arriving in the north west corner of the site and you should also find space in places in that area too.

The fields called Pennard, Park Home and Big Ground WILL be totally full by mid afternoon on Wednesday though, dont bother trying to camp there.

Have a good looksy at the Fine Guide map either here online or when yours arrives with your ticket. The scale IS difficult to compute as a Glasto virgin. You will/may have to trek for a while to get a spot but dont be tempted to just camp up as soon as you arrive through the gates, do walk on as you will find a good enough spot, dont worry.
