Closet camping to Myhab

Hi folks,

can someone please tell me which camping area is closest to the myhab entrance (I think it's near the stone circle) and if they'll be opportuity to camp there arriving late afternoon Thursday. The Situation is that 3 of our group of 15 only got their tickets in the final resale and by then the myhab tents had sold out. We have 6 tents and getting another 2 is looking doubtful. We are all traveling together in a minibus so the 3 that can't get in Myhab will simply camp as near to us as possible.

As long as you dont mind the epic trek to the southern end of the site to set up your tents, camping at the top of Pennards as well as Dairy Ground should be ok for you.

I'm camping in the myhab (tent option) and having been to the festival before several times, but never in the off-site areas, I have to warn you that you'll have to go into the sites via different entrances for on-site and off-site camping. People who don't have a Pennard Hill Farm / Myhab ticket won't get into the festival from the south and will have to get in through regular festival avenues. I think.

I assume that the minibus is going to be parked in the MyHab car park?

If so, to avoid lugging your stuff for miles and to improve your chances of all camping together, non MyHab 3 leave their gear in the van but take their tents (maybe a couple of tins), leg it to Pennards and set up camp.

A few MyHab dwellers can then bring stuff through, assuming they can get down the Hill Of DeathTM in one piece. You could do the same (in reverse) on the way back.

Just a thought. :)

You might be able to persuade the car park security to let them drop the 3 off nearer Gate D if you arrive from the West or C from east side.

The 3 in question will cetainly becoming as far they can with the rest of us on the minibus! I think all inital checks are "vehicle pass" based! As for getting them through the Pennard gate, well we'll have to blag it (i'll probably go down with the 12 ticket holders and explain there's been a booking mistake for the other 3) because the logistics of getting them back round to the usual site entrances isnt going to be possible.

I'd advise against relying on the blag. Your mates will be massively stuffed if it doesn't happen.

Here's what I'd do:

Drop non myhab mates at Gate A. You can do this in your mini-bus by prior arrangement with the festival office. Or use the lay by on the A361.

You carry on to myhab - with their tents - get wristbanded and dash to pennards and make camp for them.

Arrange somewhere to meet for a beer, then take them to to the camp you've made for them.

This will be my 2nd time at Myhab and I agree with the Pennards being rammed by Thursday, if not Weds.

I would e-mail Myhab and tell them of the issues you have, maybe they could find room for them but don't hold your breath on getting a response.

I agree, try emailing or ringing James at Myhab and see if he can squeeze another tent in. Or at least put you on a cancellation list.

Realistically arriving on Thursday your friends are gonna be stuffed for Pennards and will have to go way out west towards gate D in which case it may be better to drop them at the drop off point and then meet them later

Cheers for all the replies people, Yeah we are on the reserve list but James doesn't think they'll be any cancelations!! I might post on this forum to see if anyone else has an odd number of guests staying, I'd pick up the other half of the cost of the tent for the wristband.

If Pennards is going to be full whats the next best option ya can think of? (Glasto virgins you see!)

As for the "hill of death" comments, we're from The Lake District! Not an issue for us Country boys. lol

Bear in mind, you can't get direct from South Park to the Tipi field; you have to go all the way to the Park entrance, and up through the Park. So although South Park is close to the Myhab gate as the crow flies, it's not that convenient on foot.

With regard to the two photos above. Am I allowed to swear on this forum?

In terms of the Glastonbury Official Maps on this page, If I was looking north from the top of the H.O.D.2. before Pennard Hill Gate, I wouldn't expect to be able to see the front of the pyramid stage, but the photos show that you can.

That would mean that MYHAB is south east of the site, nearer to the late-night carnival that is Arcadia, than the Park Stage?

I'm confused, but don't really care. I've been to Glastonbury many times and I won't be lost, just a little unsure of the official maps at the moment.

Oh yeah, while I'm here.

Anyone know:

1) When do we get something in the post in terms of MYHAB car park passes etc?

2) How many tents / people in myhab approximate.

3) How close is car to tent / myhab.

Thanking you all and if you see a slightly overweight greying man who looks like John Parrot on the hill up to Myhab, say "Hello OVY!
