last minute newbie

Last week I had the unexpected pleasure of being offered a ticket with on site camping at the last minute...

So what should I look out for? Anything there that shouldn't be missed?

Anything particular I should bring? I'm flying, so what ever it it needs to be compact - are wellies an essential?

How much colder is it than the subtropical south - should I go as far as thermals? Don't forget I'm a soft southern type...

I've got a daft question from someone who's never been before! Does Rockness have camping shops like other festivals? The extent of my skintness right now suggests that I'm not actually going to be able to buy a tent until on the site with spending money. I know other festivals have sold tents before but since Rockness is a lot smaller I'm not sure.

Agree with the above, there is a camping shop but you would defintely be cheaper heading to the nearest Tesco and buying a tent for £20. http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-0497.aspx

Cheers both of you, looks like I'll be making a trip to Tesco on the way. I was only looking for a cheap thing anyway to last me the summer

As long as there's no galeforce winds or floods you'll be fine with a cheap one

Iv had the same £10 tent from Tesco for the last 3 years! does me fine

Id say bring sun block too. The more colourful the better. Its a long shot but i got sunburned a few years back. Funny how i was soaked last year. Hopefully it a sunny one again.

Also dont bring any glass, just incase you havent been told. Bring PLASTIC. its much easier to lob. tsk tsk
