Make-up

The foundation I use is in a glass bottle and as your not allowed glass on site i'm just wondering what to do. What do you other girls do about make up? If yours is also in a glass bottle do you buy one thats just in a plastic bottle or do you put your make up into a different container? I really like this foundation and I couldn't be bothered going searching for another one that I like. Also, are you allowed compact mirrors on site??

Any info will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Um, well, I am going to say as I have taken my 4 inch plastic framed but glass double mirror in every year since the beginning of the Noughties and it hasnt ever been taken off me. Ok so I ahvent been searched either but its a mirror that will remain in my tent at all times.

Although some make up is in glass bottles, I dont really think security are looking to confiscate make up rather than bloody great bottles of beer, spirits and wine.

Primani is selling very cheap travel plastic pots currently if you need to find something to transfer the foundation into but really I would worry a great deal.

i was thinking about just bringing it anyway but not sure if i want to risk it getting taken off me and having no makeup for the duration of the festival lol

so do you reckon i'll be ok if i just bring it anyway? maybe i could hide it on my person on the way in just.....

An acquaintance of mine DID get searched last year, and DID get her foundation and small mirror taken away from her. Considering that she is 40-ish it seemed a bit jobsworth to do so. I have no idea why they were singled out for a search, they do not look unduly suspicious, PLUS it was their first Glasto, just unlucky I guess. Thankfully they had such a good time they are coming again!

So, the moral is dont get searched, or transfer to plastic bottles just in case.

Yes, when they search, they REALLY search. I had my entire bag gone through, including each individual toiletry bag which i use to pack all my tops/underwear/socks etc in to keep them separated. However, they found my 6 inch square mirror, put it back in my bag, and let me on my way. I guess it depends on who checks your stuff. If its expensive foundation, i personally wouldnt risk it. I know how i'd feel if they chucked a £50 bottle of perfume or something similar! My general rule with glasto packing is this.....if i cant afford to lose/destroy it, then dont take it!

MaxFactor Facefinity is a great choice for festivals as its a compact foundation, so very easy to touch up any shine when you are out and about! (And has a handy hidden mirror inside ;) ) Was recommend on here by LusciousLucy last year, who I thank once more for this tip! :)

I got searched last year and they took my foundation off me...had to dispense what I could into a plastic cup to last me the festival! Yet they let my mate through with a compact mirror that was cracked...depends who you get obviously.

Not taking any chances this year and investing in the bare minerals foundation, which is powder based.

yes, you've confirmed my fears ;)

sounds like getting into site is getting confused with getting on a flight. I thought the no glass thing was for safety i.e. throwing glass bottles etc? Hadn't really considered the carnage that a 5 inch bottle of foundation could create? I'm just imagining...somebody in the moment, listening to their heroes on stage, dancing exuberantly, some may be throwing drinks up into the air (annoying i know, but it does happen doesn't it), at this point you'd really want to go rooting in your pack..' this is fab, now where did i put that £25 foundation bottle so that i can throw it...'

Definately put it in a different container, my other half got searched (whilst carrying the bag with my clothes in! Haha!) one year and he said they had little bottles of aftershave/perfume/marmite/make up etc which they had confiscated, they are very strict....we had our garden flares confiscated, thankfully nothing else.

Interested to read of the rather overzealous confiscation of tiny bottles. Like someone said, exactly what harm is a small glass perfume/makeup bottle going to do? Particularly concerned about mirrors being confiscated. I need my mirror to patch up my appearance after a few days living rough.

I can see why the Festival organisers don't want people bringing glass drinks bottles and such on site, because the cows have to live in the fields afterwards, but couldn't they introduce a maximum size for permitted bottles so people could bring small toiletry/medicinal bottles in with them?

I don't bother with make up, maybe a dash of eyeliner but otherwise not really, particularly with all the sun last year my skin actually came back much healthier, with a nice tan too :D

As for the glass, I don't think it's much to do with what the glass contains, it's the glass itself, like if someone was to use it as a weapon which is unlikely to happen at Glasto but I guess they want to avoid any issues.

I have emailed Glasto Office today to see what they say about tiny foundation bottles and mirrors. While I am not bothered about foundation, I need a mirror as I wear contact lenses!

I will keep you all up to date on what they say, if I get a reply!
