at the end of the day, it is easier to have a blanket ban on all glass. They say no glass - if it smashes and gets lost in the grass - Mrs Cow steps on it - poorly hoof.

All makeup can be decanted, most make-up comes in plastic packaging, and you can get a glassless mirror for under 1.50 for lenses.

Medical viles - although a pain in the arse can be left with the medical people in the fridge.

The foundation I use is in a glass bottle and as your not allowed glass on site i'm just wondering what to do. What do you other girls do about make up? If yours is also in a glass bottle do you buy one thats just in a plastic bottle or do you put your make up into a different container? I really like this foundation and I couldn't be bothered going searching for another one that I like. Also, are you allowed compact mirrors on site??

Any info will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Had a reply from Glasto Office!

They said:

"Yes you are correct the policy is no glass on site, and that does include the foundation bottle. I am sure that a small mirror would be acceptable."

So there you go girls, hope this helps :)

Edited to say: I have actually bought a plastic 'safety' mirror anyway - just in case.

Next question...

HOW much make up to take?

Each year I seem to end up taking more and more as my glitter stocks build up and I can never decide what should and what shouldnt come with you! I like to have a different make up look every day and my hair bobblies bag is a bit overkill too.

Can you not just use a different foundation? there are hundreds in plastic containers? there must be one you could use for this short time, I have to say I use Minerals Powders by Loreal you can put it on quite lightly if you like a light style or you can build it up to give excellent coverage if you like a thicker style... :)

Ladies, if your usual foundation comes in a glass bottle, and you would like to stick with using it, it might be worth hitting up the premium cosmetics counters.

Many of the companies (including Clinique and Lancome) will provide you with samples of their products in neat little plastic containers. The one I had from Lancome was a dinky little bottle (that would certainly hold enough for a weeek or so) that had a spatula as part of the lid. The Clinique one was a small tub. I don't think Clarins do that type of sample (i.e. decanted to order), but it might be worth asking nicely (if that's the brand you use), as they used to do nice little 5 mL sample tubes - probably enough to see you through Glastonbury!

If you already use foundations from these companies, ask at the counter and explain the situation - there's a good chance they'll take pity and hand over one of their bottles. Alternatively, feign interest in their products, let them give you the colour consultation, but ask if they have a sample you can take away. If you don't like their foundation, you can always wash it out and decant some of your favourite into it.

Just bought an acrylic mirror from our local army surplus shop.

The mirror is only about 4" x 3" but big enough, and only cost £2.99.

Sad to be leaving my trusty glass camping mirror at home, but this will do nicely, and not weigh much either.

Don't worry, I take foundation (in a glass bottle) every year. I have NEVER been searched and I'm sure that probing a lady's make-up bag would be seen by security as a bit OTT. God know what they'd find at the bottom of mine ;)

On my quest for a glass free festival I have just bought some solid perfume from Lush. It comes in a push up plastic container, a bit like a chubby lipstick tube. And it was only £5.50, and it smells nice, and there is a choice of perfumes.

The other alternative is to decant some perfume oil into a little plastic bottle, but I'm always a bit wary of putting smelly oils into a bottle they were not designed for. Possibility of leakage is not good-although by day 5, maybe it would be less of an issue.

Glad I read this, didn't realise my foundation and nail varnish and mirror could be confiscated *shudders at thought* Will get some plastic cased foundation and look for a plastic mirror.
