What to take?!... For motorhome and campervan users

Thank you so much stone circle for this advice and for your comprehensive list. Have been worrying slightly about our battery running out and what to do for showers/hot water if it does but I will now be taking all the necessary bits and bobs above (my shopping list just keeps getting longer!!).

We're quite new to caravanning and completely new to Glasto so threads like this are really helpful. Getting really excited now :D:D

My tummy butterflies started today! Hope you have a great festival, and don't be afraid to ask and questions, my parents were also caravanners so have always been used to making do without electric hook ups as these were not about in the 60's. The secret is to always have a back up then you can't go wrong.

Make sure you have a spare gas cylinder too, I forgot to add that as it is in the front locker where I never venture! It is great taking the caravan as you can pack for every eventuality, I have a clothes and toiletries list too! Bet you could have guessed that though!

I have hundred of lists surrounding me right now, lol! Need to make fewer, longer lists as I'm now just confusing myself  We do have 2 gas cylinders and one is only slightly used so I'm hoping that is more than enough (especially with all the tips). Most of the stuff is already in the van waiting for the off (not the food of course, lol!). Eeeeeeeeek!

With your many years of experience do you know if there are many caravans that have enough room for their towing vehicle and put up an awning as our caravan is about max pitch length and I wasn't sure if there would be room for an awning as well?

Thanks, that has eased my mind about space, sounds like you have a wonderful set-up. Wish we could persuade some of our friends to get interested in coming, most of them think we are mad going to glastonbury at our age (not that I think of myself as old but definitely a late starter!). But I'm hoping we'll make lots of new ones, still can't get over getting our tickets in the final resale, so so lucky. :)

Never having been campers (the tenting kind) I don't think we'd cope in the campsites either!

Look out for a VW Passat with a cream Canadian canoe strapped to the roof, that's us, do come and say hi! Canoe is for Devon afterwards (not the floods! ) to get over post Glastonbury depression! We will be there from mid afternoon Tuesday, staying overnight on Monday in Castle Cary to break the journey.

Have a read at this if you haven't already http://www.glastoearth.com/the-faq

And buy this to read, there is still time!

And you will be even more excited at what you are about to find! :)

That's a great list, especially for an old stoner, thanks very much.

Just to say for anyone renting a van check aquaroll provision before you buy one. I've rented motorhomes twice and both times they were provided and I've just checked for the caravan I'm getting this year and it's on the list of items which they include.

And we've always used the on site water for brews, although we've probably brought a couple of bottles of drinking water just for those who want some drinking water during the night. My taste buds are poor and my mouth will likely taste of stale booze and jerk chicken anyway :)
