Blue route & East carparks quieter?

The Glasto festival website says that the blue route is quieter than the other routes into the festival and that access into and out of the east carparks that Blue route feeds is less congested.

Can anyone confirm this?

Really hoping to camp in the southwest fields- Dairy or west side of Park- but worried that access into the west carparks may be difficult. Am prepared to have a long walk from the east carparks if there is much easier access, but if there is not much difference it probably wouldn't be worth the hike.

Am planning on coming in around 11am Wednesday, and leaving around 11.30pm Sunday.

Also, will the carpark ticket have routing instructions on it? Coming from Yorkshire the festival website advice is to use the A303/A37 and blue route. Will I have a choice about which route in I take?

Would be grateful for any advice or comments.

Sorry-that's lots of different questions, but all around the same topic!

In recent times the queues into both sides of the site have been massive, I have only ever done the Blue route and I wouldn't say it has been easy.

Coming from Yorkshire there are so many route options but most of them will take you towards the Blue route and East.I would personally avoid the A303/A37 option as you will be joining the London traffic

If you really want to go West then you would need to either go from Shepton Mallet to Wells along the A371 and round that way or go the long way round, down the M4 and onto the M5 and then into Glastonbury that way.

Your best option may be something like M1, M4, A46(bath) then A367 Radstock, Shepton, then you can go either way from there.

I’ve noticed the routes the official website provides all avoid the A37 from Bristol through to Shepton Mallet – does this section of road become closed/used for locals only or just ridiculously packed & they try to send drivers the other two main east & west routes?

As for the route provided for North-East travellers: A1 or M1, M25 to M3 (Junction 12), then A303 and A37. (Sat Nav TA11 7DP). There are better ways (also coming from Yorkshire) to get closer to the site, no need to even get close to the M25 – yikes!

Previously we have always come in down the M5, and along the A39 through Street and Glastonbury, but that was when we lived in the Midlands.

Intuitively I would have thought that the route that carried all the London traffic ie the blue route would have been busiest, but the official site says not.

As for the M25- yes, yikes, no way. I would cut across down the A34 to get onto the A303 if that was the route I eventually chose.

Will wipe the final part of the north A37 route off the list of possibilities then!

The A34 is one route I too believe is a good plan, this then gives a few options of which A road to take to get onto the 303.

Anyone had any good/bad experience with any A roads south of the M4 - A34, A346, A350 or A46? Obviously the closer to site, the busier all roads will become – just looking for any general heads up info.

I have a simular issue, Im driving from London direction so the 'correct' route is M25-A303-A37 and park in the blue carparks.

But hoping to camp in Park Home, so have been told I would be better off parking in the West/red and using Gate D. Does anyone have any advice if it is worth while me doing this? and if so what would be my best route to take?

Thanks

Blue route east from London I always end up going down the M3 A303 then off to what the map tells me is the A371, which isn't as far down the A303 as the A37. I know it must be the A371 because I always end up going past Castle Cary train station. Quite a nice route in actually.

I've gone down the A37 route from the A303 before but it always seems as if I'm going way past the festival and then back on myself again, which actually it is!

We're flying into Southampton and picking up a motorhome in Ferndown Dorset so coming from the south. Having no idea of the local area, is it best to go west and get on the A37 sooner rather than later, or can we come up on the A371 and join the A361/A371/A37 quite late because looking at the map, it looks like the East Campervan site is past The Highwayman Inn and Cannards Grave Farmhouse am I right?
