wilko8
Does anyone know which roads/routes will be closed during Glastonbury? This is my first time and I'm trying to plan my route. Options so far are: A) m5, m4, bath, radstock, Shepton mallet m5, m4, bath, frome, a361 C) m5, a39, a361 We are planning to set off from the west midlands at 4am on Wednesday. Any advice/info on which route would be the best and how long we should expect to queue would be much appreciated!! Spindles
Option C. And leave 2 hours earlier. I'm travelling from Redditch, just south of brum, same route. We are heading out about 2:30/3am like last year, which saw us hit the car park at about 6:15am, which was probably about an hour later than optimal, as we'd have had less queuing if we'd made it that little earlier (we only queued til about 11, so it wasn't a major hassle). If you leave at 4 you'll meet the point where the traffic arriving on the a361 is starting to build up and might be looking at not getting into the car park until 8am or later. Personally I prefer to be out of a vehicle when I do my queueing.
ovy
I've always travelled down from Leeds at 1.00-2.00am on Weds morning, arriving (with one toilet stop) between 5.00-7.00am. Never in 6 visits have I queued for more than half an hour to get into the site in the car. Last year we were in the blazing sun at the pedestrian gate for a few hours, but EVERY MAN AND HIS DOG turned up for the football that afternoon. I don't think there'll be another one like last years carnage until 2014, presuming England have a match in the Euros!
