I just tried that and it gave for a (suggested) midday arrival -

12.41 Castle Cary Station

12.42 Walk to Castle Cary, Castle Cary Station SW-bound2 (on A371)

Take Nippy Bus Ltd/667 towards Street (Somset), Crispin Hall

Arrive 13.12

Depart 13.23

Street, Strode Road Hail & Ride Westbound

Take Frome Minibuses/669 towards Shepton Mallet, Cenotaph

Arrive 13.45 Pilton, The Crown Inn Hail & Ride Eastbound

If you havent booked your travel there is also the 376 bus that runs from outside Bristol Temple Meads station to Glastonbury Town. You then would get on that same 669 bus to Pilton.

While its true that there is no Punter shuttle buses there could be a crew minibus picking up people .

Your far better off if you contact your employer as they may advise you to catch a certain train

By the way if you walk or get a lift from Castle Cary there is no need to pass though Shepton Mallet.

lets say you get a lift up the A371 when you see the sign for Pilton A381/A37 jump off and head to Pilton - its roughly one mile from that junction.

If you have been before then you should be ok but if you have not then take a compass - your heading North up the A371 { signs will say to - Shepton Mallet } - at the Junction your now heading west

Most people in that area are friendly and really if I had to do it I would just hitch { although I would have a back up plan so that I could call the crew office if I got stuck }

I take it you already know which gate to go though - be sure to take ID if they don't know you and your letter from your employer as there is Security already onsite.

Unless your very lucky you could have a long wait for a Bus so a hitch may work out quicker

Try to post after you get there to let us know you made it ok.

Booked the train a while ago. A train from West Yorkshire down there would have cost a bomb.

No letter from employer, either. She just told me to head to Goose Hall. Believe thats on the North side of the Festival. Will have my passport on me anyway, planning on traveling around Europe afterwards.

Thanks for all the help, knew there would be a better option than taking a Taxi. Hitching seems a decent option, though if the weather is as nice as it is today up Norf I wouldn't mind a leisurely stroll through more pleasant surroundings!

Goose Hall { image below } used to be at the bottom of the Kids Field but they may have moved the kids field as i don't have kids so don't pay any attention so its a area I dont know well.
