You're only really gonna buy food and drink so really depends on what sort of time you are planning and how much stuff you take with you. I take some drink but buy about 5 pints a day and eat 3 times a day £150 is plenty for that.

Other than food and drink you might buy a T Shirt or something but nothing major. Hope you have a fab time :D

I don't get why people buy food at Glastonbury, or any festival for that matter. It's grossly over-priced and on the whole, horrible. Pack a load of tinned fruit, some stay-fresh bread and some stuff to make sandwiches in - in a cool-box. Or, if you are prepared to queue, get yourself down to the Hare Krishna tent everyday and get some free stuff. You don't need money at Glastonbury to have a good time!

Unfortunately in drunken stupor, I have bought food from a stall at every one of my 11 Glastonburys. Maybe I was a bit harsh about the quality of the food in my last post, it's always edible. The problem I have is with the price. Yes I understand that the pitch-cost of selling food at a festival is going to be high - but it's ridiculous. Think I got a pie and peas last year and barely got change for a curly-wurly from a tenner.

Each to their own I guess - but spending £20 a day on food somewhere would make me depressed.

Oh, and never been to V-Fest, ta. That would also make me depressed.

You just need to know where to look. Stay away fron the food stores near the pyramid. Way to pricey and poor quality. Best value for money I found was the greenfields in particular the buddha cafe and greenpeace pizzas were lush!

I'm struggling for money, and won't have any wages left come Glastonbury, although will get paid on the 25th.

On the plus side my Nan still puts £2 a week away for me, embarrassingly I'm 29, but have come back home to get my ticket and tent etc and pleased to find I've got £100 'pocket money.'

the cost of food over the past 3 years has doubled in some cases - especially where wheat based products are used. Breads, pastas, rice (ok i know that isn't wheat based), fruit, veg, transportation costs, import costs - this has to be passed on it the consumer - 7 quid for a meal is bloody marvellous, and I certainly don't think that Glasto food has doubled in price over the past 3 years.

Fair point. I guess I miss the old days when there were plenty of dirt cheap entry level options, like veggie burgers for a quid, or dhal and rice for £2.50. Even with inflation these would be cheapo options now. These came off the back of the squatter/hippy/traveller presence on site, which has diminished somewhat.

Having said that, the variety, quality, professionalism of service, and just about every other aspect of food at the festival has improved no end. It's just a shame that it's a lot harder (tho not impossible) to find genuine bargains to tide you over while you go along.
