There definitely is East and West Camper/Caravan fields but none specifically designated for families this year. The family areas are for tents only.

used to be E17 but think it changed to E23 last year, same field but difference reference. Basically the field at the top of the Hill of Death.

And yes after looking at the map for this year it isn't actually marked as "family campervans" whereaas before it has been. I've always used this field and this news concerns me a bit.

You could always try asking the stewards when you get there to be put in E23? Worth a shot whats the worst they can say apart from no? Like Cooter said it is normally marked up!!

As it seemed anyone without kids could use family anyway this is probably why they have stopped it. I am basing this on the fact we have always been asked which we wanted and we are just a couple. We have never camped in the family field.

Pity they couldn't allocate a field just for people with young children and leave a bit of safe space for the kids to play ball games, run round etc

I guess it will be easier on the parking stewards to fill the fields. Will it be back to front or front to back??

Surely its better to have family CV fields simply so those without kids don't get woken up early and tgose of us that do have them can sleep somewhere a little quieter and be a bit nearer the gate.

Looks like we'll have to try abd get there early on Tuesday then this year. I'm really disappointed by this decision and don't understand why its been made.

It's closest to the gate because of prams, babes in arms, extra daily luggage etc etc etc.

Anyway I've just emailed GF office this, awaiting an answer.

As usual my four children and I will be using our campervan at this years festival and were hoping to be using it within the designated family campervan fields on the east side that have proved so very very useful in past years. We were definitely asked the question of which area we wanted both in 2009 and 2010 (camped before that) and you were then placed into different queues. The is the bit I never understood, why ask a couple on their own???

May I disagree with you on this subject. As recently as 2005,2007,2008,2009 and even last year 2010 the family campervan fields were marked on the festival site map and many customers entering the East campervan area were asked (as usual) if they needed to be parked in the family area, even in 2010. Considering all that I would think it was an officially designated area and strangely for no reason at all now it's not. So in that respect the arrangements do look to be entirely different rather than "just the same" this year. Are families with campervans not as welcome as they used to be? It does seem a bit strange what with the festival being so family friendly in recent years and then the taking away of such a proven essential area, for both young and old families.

"We are sorry for all this confusion. I can now confirm that there will be family camping fields in the East side of the site, these are - East 20/23/22/25/13.

I think the confusion came from there not being a designated area shown clearly on the online map we have on our website. You will be asked when you arrive on site whether you would prefer standard or family camping.

We are sorry for any hassle this has caused.

er hopefully not. Although saying that, it does seem a bit ott with all those fields as designated family fields. Normally it's just one, E23 which used to be E17 pre2010. Anyway, I'm guessing there won't be any strict rules regarding them this year, much like other years. Just bear in mind that they are family fields.

I'm still unfortunately receiving the opposite message from the GFO who have said again this morning by email that there is definitely no designated camping in the C/V fields for families - I've referred them to this thread as I'm confused!

dear oh dear, well I'm sure it's now pretty much confirmed that there is. If the GF office do read this thread then do you think you could update the official map on the official site. At least then both customers and organisers won't be confused from here on!

eta: I've actually just emailed the office to request the map update asap.
