Arriving on Thursday or friday

I'm bringing my baby so other people are going ahead to pitch a tent on the Wednesday and planning on driving down on Thursday afternoon or Friday Morning.

It's been years since I arrived late, I have arrived on Wed Morning for the last few years, and wondered what it's like on a Thurs/Fri. Will I still be stuck in a queue of traffic, are there times to avoid?

These days by late Thursday and definitely Friday pretty much everyone has arrived. The site is almost full by Wednesday afternoon these days.

You will likely get parked at the furthest point away from the gates though unless you can sweet talk the people at the gate to be allowed to try a nearer car park (the baby being a fairly good excuse). There won't be a queue when you arrive by car nor on foot when you walk in.

I got to last years festival at about 8am on the Thursday via Bristol and drove straight in, no waiting at all, which was a major bonus after the 8 hour wait to get in in 2009 on the Wednesday.

Wasn't parked too far away but was about a ten minute walk to the main gate

No queues Thurs or Fri these days, but you do run the risk of parking 10 miles away (well, it feels like it!). Though that said, a friend who arrived half a day later than us a couple of years ago was routed to a car park MUCH nearer than us. Depends on what order they fill the car parks up. Main worry arriving on Thurs/Fri is decent camping space, but if someone's pitching your tent, then no worries.

thank you for the replies. I will be traveling light but will have a pushchair thingy so don't mind a bit of a walk. I'll try the sweet talk.
