Late night DJ's

This is really the only aspect of EOTR that I think is 'lacking'. It may be intentional, of course. However, I don't think that some 'proper' dance music late at night would change the feel or vibe of the festival and there seem to be enough people commenting periodically to suggest that it would go down pretty damn well.

Are you listening, Lovely Organisers?!

To illustrate this - Latitude is in no way a dance/hip-hop influenced festival (much to the chagrin of many on the Latitude boards!) but its late night dance scene is pretty fantastic. I would rarely leave the Sunshine Arena before 3.30am having sweated and grooved for several v happy hours after the live stages have finished.

It's not even dance music that I want to hear just some music to dance to. There have been lots of bands that have played in the past and have very danceable songs (Caribou, Allo Darlin', The New Pornographers, Yo La Tengo.. etc). I'd love to hear someone playing something like that late at night or I'd settle for Pulp just playing live into the wee hours. :)

Exactly this. Some Northern Soul or Cuban or anything like that loud in a tent with beer into the night would do me. Was in bed too early last year to remember exactly what there was. Saw some of Jarvis and R Hawley though which was quite good, but we left before it got going. Ain't as young as I once was. :)

Ian has confirmed on facebook that HDIF will be at End of the Road.

"Happy to announce that I'll be doing HDIF *twice* at this year's End Of The Road festival. 1.30am-3am at the Forest Dancefloor on Saturday night, and a special HDIF for children at 4.30pm-5.30pm, also at the Forest Dancefloor on Saturday. Hurrah!"

Hurrah indeed!

When people say 'dance' music for me it depends on what that means. As much as i used to be a bit of a raver dancing to music at 598768757 bpm, my body just can't take that any more (or my brain) but i'd be happy to bop about (yes, bop) to some happy, smiley disco and northern soul, maybe even get fresh (yes, get fresh) with some old, lazy beat hip hop. Anything more than that i'll be back on the rhubarbs (yes, rhubarbs) throwing shapes and talking to the walls :)

Just found out that Ian Watson of the Howdoesitfeeltobeloved nights in London is doing 1:30 - 3.00 am on Saturday night/sun am at the Forest dancefloor, and one for kids at 4.30-5,30 on the Saturday too.

He's a great DJ, a mixture of Indie pop/Northern Soul/60s girl group stuff. If I'm still awake I'll be there.
