Best gate for Kidney Mead

Hiya,

We're looking to camp in Kidney Mead / Big Ground and are travelling from Bristol Cribbs Causeway first thing on Wed morning.

Last year we came from Yeovil and ended up coming in by the campervan fields for the first time ever. Never again! It was a complete nightmare. Can we get round that site of the festival to get in Pedestrian Gate B (and if so, any ideas on the route?) or do we run the risk of getting sent to the same car parks as last year?

If it's not possible, then we'll probably head to gate A and walk across, but it's a lot more of a trek and we have 3 large tents to put up which need a fair bit of space so want to get there as early as poss.

There seem to be a lot of you in the know on these things so any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks guys :)

Well, we would like to find a way of getting across to the east car parks, anyone any ideas if you can, or are the roads a nightmare / closed of. Mind you, after last year's walk, queueing and the hill of doom for the first time, I don't know if that's wise.

Mind you, didn't know you could avoid the hill, so that would work. Until last year we've come in from the A39 (coming from the Midlands) on the orange route I think, but we've never camped at Kidney Mead before.

I reckon we're probably best to stick to the west car parks as they never seem to be as far from the gates and try and aim for gate A and walk straight across. It's all too much to think about!

Thanks for all your suggestions guys. If anyone does have any clever route to get from the M5 round to the east car parks that would be great.

2 weeks and we'll all be there and set up! :D

In fact you can actually take the map from the glastonbury site and get on google maps and set the view to satellite. If you look at the glasto map closely and take the shapes of the car parks you can map them onto the glasto map as the fields roughly follow the same shapes on both maps. Its not clear how to get into car parks E1-E4 because you can either come down the A361 towards Pilton approcahing from the east but from my experience you just get funnelled into wherever the stewards fancy putting you, however this could be the best option - the other option is to approach the site from the east go along the A361 and then if they allow you turn left onto the A37 and then hope they funnell you in via platterwell lane which is to the right off the A37

Hi Gooner. How do you get into E1-6 car parks? Which direction do you come from to get funnelled into them? And do they funnel into them on the Tuesday night as that is when I am arriving. I want to use Ped Gate B simply because I will have my young kids with me, want to try and get in Cocksmill and will also have to do a couple of trips to the car and back - it would make all of our lives a lot easier. Usually I would come in from the west but it is a hell of a trek with kids from gate A or D.

Your advice would be much appreciated. :)
