Campervan arrival, how early?

Why would you arrive an hour before it opens anyway ? You have all afternoon and most of the early evening to arrive before the cars start rolling up. I mean thats like a 9 hour window, even space shuttles get back to earth in more timely fashion :)

If it's getting a 'decent spot', it's luck of the draw and although I expect them to fill up nearest field first I shouldn't think there would be much in it between arriving at 12 and arriving at 1 or 2 pm. As others say as well, it would be a pain and you may end up having to drive around or park in the laybys which is exactly why they brought in this provision in the first place.

Unless it's a sneaky plan to get 2013 to open up on Monday, in which case I'm with you.

why don't they fill from the front ?

i thought they had last year...but we arrived on Tuesday at about 6pm and we were miles back (maybe E17, sounds familiar) it took about 40 mins to walk to the gate...but they asked us if we wanted family camping or not...we said "NOT" cos we were 3 adults & didn't want to be surrounded by screaming kids...but then realised that if we'd said that we wanted "family" camping, we MAY have got nearer the gate...

so that's what we'll do this year...and we are a family...cos one of us is taking her 16 yr old daughter & her mate...

fingers crossed for sunshine like last year... B)

No I'm coming down by train to glasto, but we stayed at that park in January in our Brick. Lovely little site, friendly people, about 10 minutes from Stonehenge itself. :) Of course if I'd really been thinking about it I could have escaped for a whole week, done Solstic on the monday and ambled over to Glastonbury after, but ho di hum! Enjoy! Stonehenge is amazing during the solstice!

We thought we'd try and join the (East) queue early last year, but they were waving everyone on. So went and did some impromptu shopping at the retail park just south of Shepton Mallet. Drove back down the A37 at about 11.30am and pulled over with the masses. They started waving us into the one way lanes at about 11.50.

Apparently there are no family CV fields this year so I have no idea if families will be any closer to the gate or not but according to the festival office there haven't been any since 2004 anyway.

Just to be a boring bastard please if you don't have young kids or one on the way please don't go in the family bits (if it turns out that there is this option) simply to save yourself a walk. If your moaning about the walk to the gate just please remember how much harder it will be for those of us with little ones in tow. Your taking of a family spot when you don't need it is just making life so much harder for those that do.

I emailed the festival office on Sunday to see if there is any plan for how they are going to fill up the fields and if we arrive on Tuesday afternoon will we be near the back but they've not got back to me yet. I'll let you know their response though.
