Is there space in coaches' storage for loaded trolley

Hi

We are travelling by coach, and the mrs wants to take a trolley rather than a backpack. We've seen the Funky Leisure Off-Roader Festival Trolley MkII recommended.

Do coaches allow you to bring a loaded and bungeed-up trolley and is there enough space in the coach's luggage compartment?

If yes, would we have to arrive early at the coach to make sure to fit it on without dismantling our gear and folding down the trolley? How soon before departure do the coaches open their doors?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Dave

I read somewhere that trolleys are allowed on National Express coaches at the drivers discretion, and I've seen some loaded trolleys being put into the baggage hold. But I'd imagine how the driver felt about that would depend on how many others were trying to do the same thing and exactly how big your loaded trolley was - as far as I remember the ones I saw had a smaller base than the one in your link. No idea about the Seetickets coaches though.

At the Victoria Coach Station several coaches are scheduled to leave at the same time. If one was too full for your trolley another which was less loaded could probably be found.

Getting there early doesn't really make to much difference. We arrived an hour early last year and joined the queue. When we got the the gates we were still too early and had to wait by the gates until the proper time. Meanwhile people who were behind us but had booked an earlier coach were waved through. It was very busy at Victoria (as you'd expect) and you were allowed out to the coach at about the time you'd booked - then you queued again to put stuff in the hold. Coaches only actually left when the coach or the hold was full.

It all might be different from other departure points though.

Hi Musky

Thanks for your input.

I hadn't though about the different coach companies.

So, I probably should have mentioned that we're on a Seetickets coach as part of a ticket + coach deal.

The email confirmation says the coach leaves from Embankment, by the Tattershall Castle boat bar.

Has anyone got any experience of this sort of coach with trolleys? We're not bringing cases of beer, she just wants to use a trolley to take her stuff instead of a backpack as she gets back pain.

Thanks

Dave

PS in case it's helpful to anyone else, I found these two topics, but they're all talking National Express baggage allowances not Seetickets..

We usually take a folding trolly or 2 on the coach. Just got the funky leisure one this year. It's our biggest yet but I think should be ok. Be prepared to fold it up though, and try to be at the front of the queue for loading up the coach.
