Last year i wore a really expensive pair of hiking boots and some cotton lined walking socks..They were not such a good idea, very comfortable at first but i had bloody awful blisters under my feet and on the heels by the end of the festival, took a good 10 days to get them sorted after. I don't want that again, this year i am thinking of some closed toe trainer sandles, and maybe a pair of trainer boots and some bamboo socks. What do you were ? I have seen people in open toe sandles, but i would be concerned on getting stamped on or tripping on those bloody steel roads. want to get this sorted this weekend, its the last thing on my list. Oh and i will be taking the compulsory wellies, but hope to leave them in the car like last year !!!!!

I've worn a pair of these http://www.matalan.co.uk/fcp/product///Memory-Foam-Insole/13658&resultsPerPage=100&attrList=Dept,brand in my walking boots for the last few years and found them an absolute god send. Cheap as chips too. My feet always ache if I wear trainers on the hard ground but found that these were the way forward. You cut them to your shoe size but if you get them, don't cut on to your size line right away, start a little bigger and keep trying in your shoe.

Look after your feet before you go. Clip nails, get rid of hard skin etc. Good well worn in boots with natural fibres socks. Some people wear two pairs of soacks but I have never needed to. I wear viper combat boots with the special inner soles they come with. Never had blisters or poor feet when wearing them. Intact I have worn them for 36 hours before (don't ask) and my feet were still in fantastic shape at the end of it.

I brought loads of athletes foot powder last year, threw loads on every day after my shower and my feet were feeling grand by the end.

Weather helped though, I was wearing really light plimsoles and nice airy socks.

DUnno waht they'd have been like if I was wearing wellies all weekend.

I always wear old shoes as I don't care if they get trashed and I know won't give me blisters and I take 5 pairs with me.

Wellies for really wet and deep mud (need socks that are longer than the wellies)

Walking boots for shallow and claggy mud (I've had mine for 10 years so are well worn in)

A comfy pair of trainers for if its dry

A pair of sandals for if its really hot

Plus a clean pair to leave in the car for the way home!

My other half laughs at me and just has 1 pair of DM work boots he wears and puts into a bin bag when he gets back in the car!

Lots of good tips here, i will do the talc thing,i was at the chiropodost only yesterday getting my feet sorted, just corns and hardskin. Ordered some Bamboo socks from Ebay. I have a feeling last year it was to hot and my feet sweated a lot in the boots, socks i bought were £15 a pair, absolute rubbish, bots are Brasher and normally ok. Shall take some closed toe sandles, and my boots.Nothing worse than knackered feet for half the festival, mind you i don't intend doing as much stage hopping this time, most of the stuff i want to see is in same area.

If it's dry I'll just wear a pair of adidas runners. I wet wipe my feet at the start and end of each day to keep them clean. I missed 07, but in 05 before I could get my hands on a pair of wellies I had to walk round in my runners all day Friday - and then I just took them off whenever we stopped and there was a bit of try ground, let my feet dry and put some paper inside my shoes to try soak up moisture. Though if you're prepared it shouldn't come to that!

+1 for compede plasters if your feet have gone wrong

If your in cheap wellies cut off a strip of sock to put where they dig into your shin - I only heard that one on here after the event. I walked round all of 09 with shins in agony, occasionally trying to roll them outwards so they'd reach a different part of my shin.

Last year I tried jungle boots, i'll be taking them again this year.

Normal socks over some trainer socks (the type that come up only to your ankle) have proved good for me. If the weather looks changable to the wet, I'll slip a pair of sealskinz socks in my bag, though any waterproof brand would do you.

I do pack a small wash kit and bowl with my brew up kit, and so do wash and talc my feet every morning.

Shoe list:

Wellies for wet (as thanks for the weather gods for giving us sun ;) ) with knee high socks

Lace up pump shoes for early evening and night time when jumping around and in big tight crowds

Flip flops for morning and day because it will be SCORCHIO!!!! :D

Lost a flip flop at front of Pyramid last year in a crush... bare feet is not fun!

Bloody hell, I can't imagine spending last year in walking boots. The heat! No wonder you got blisters. Hot feet get blistered.

"Sensible" sandals are a fine choice for a dry Glastonbury. Make sure they have wide straps that grip the foot in a few places -- if they move around, they'll rub badly.

You'll find that people step on your toes a lot less often than you'd expect. Even in crowded dance tents!

Expensive doesn't necessarily mean good! Whatever you do don't wear new boots, you need to break em in. No point taking wellies, boots and gaiters are far better in any degree of wet conditions. That's the reason why you don't see many hill walkers in weliies. Walking boots if wet, some trail running shoes if dry...

Whether you favour trainers boots or wellies - try to avoid new ones. Something well worn in as your main footwear is best to avoid blisters.

I take old trainers as my main shoes, with wellies for wet/mud (rubber not plastic) and flip flops for around the camp to air my tootsies

If you're going to spend money buy good socks and lots of them.
