6 person tent or 3 person tent & gazebo?

At previous festivals we havent had anywhere in the shade to sit near our tent. We already have a 3 person tent & thought a gazebo placed over the tent would add a bit more shelter to it, & also provide a shady porch at the front. The other option is to buy a cheap 6 person tent that includes a shaded porch.

Any thoughts or opinions on what others would do?

Gazebos are the spawn of Satan, their owners should rot in a pit of foul smelling puss and wallow in the very bottom of a 2am long drop.

I think a gazebo depends where you are camping. We are a group of 7, camping behind the staff compound in Paines Ground, therwe are 5 tents that will be in a fairly tight circle so we have a small shared chillout area without pi55ing anyone off and not quite living in each others tents. Squeezing a gazebo in that area between would be OK. Trying it Pennards may not have the same impact.

For a solo camper, a tent & gazebo, or even a 6 man tent seems excessive. A chair, an extra pole or two and a white sheet would do the job IMO

We are 2 adults, but may have at least 1 friend staying with us. If we took a gazebo, I was going to put it OVER our actual 3 person tent with just one side providing some shade, therefore not taking up too much space. Thanks for all your opinions.

I'd go for the lighter option of the 3 man tent to be honest. Have done the big tent thing, and reverted back to going for the smaller tent ever since. The bigger the tent, the heavier it is, and it's bad enough carrying it down to the site let alone taking it home with you!
