We don't have a tent so we are want to buy one We will arrive at london around 8-9 pm so i think we will find all stores closed, and we leave next day around 4 pm for Bristol Our choices: 1) Buy one from London- Do you have any shops to suggest in central London (except Millets) ? 2) Buy one from Bristol - We arrive there around 7 pm and i don't know 3)Buy one from the festival-i think i saw somewhere a link about a shop where u pre-order online and then you get it from their shop at glasto Any other suggestions? What about prices?Do you think central London shops will be overpriced? Thanks in advance!
fur_q
you'll find a few camping shops around Southampton Street Between the Strand and Charring Cross, theese are all relativly expensive or there isBlacks just off Oxford Street near Tottenham Court Road. further out of town their is Decathlon next to Canada Water tube and is a little cheaper. you could also try Argos as they have branches throughout London and in Bristol Or cosy camper will let you pre order and collect on site

strudders
You could use these guys. http://www.cosycamper.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=85 Collect on site. Millets did the service last year but not this. Also Joe Bananas did as well but they have folded??? http://www.worthyfm.com/official-no-joe-bananas-at-glastonbury-2011/ I would collect onsite if possible, so much less hassle. ukslim
Dunno why you said "not Millets". A bog standard 2-3 man dome from Millets or Blacks is a perfectly acceptable festival tent.
HurrahBrother
Yep, Millets is also part of the blacks group. It is the lower end/entry level brand of the group, but I have been using their kit for decades and can testify that they are perfectly fine for an event like this. Blacks tends to stock tents more suited to being used in windswept places during more balmy times of the year. They do have a stall onsite (usually at the back of the field in front of the other stage). I am not sure if they will have tents this year. But if you are looking around, just know what you need and do not compromise. And in my opinion, for a festival, you need: - A double skinned dome or Igloo tent (dome with a porch), - Pitches outside first - Hydostatic head of 1500mm minimum. Most have gone to 2000mm, - Extra chunky pegs and it will handle the usuall weather. It will keep you dry as the outside first pitched domes will give you the most performance from the flysheet, and the inner will stop condensation soaking everything (the problem with single skinned tents) the design is the most forgiving as it does not need to be pitched in an "ideal manner" (Like tunnels, Tipis or ridge tents), and with those extra chunky pegs at each corner you won't need to use the guy ropes (or at most only need to use the ones on the porch). You can borrow a mallet.
