You need the Red Route - look on the Fine Guide map on the Glastonbury website

9pm on Tuesday. There are no facilities in the car parks (except loos). You can only park for a couple of hours at most motorway service stations without paying to park - and as someone has already said you may attract sniffer dogs esp if you stop on the M5

Stoves are perfectly allowed but they can be dangerous if you use them too near to a tent and/or when you're pissed. I can't emphasise enough how important it is to light stoves WELL away from your (and other people's) tents and also HAVE A PRACTICE before you leave so you're not left starving with no idea how to use the bloody thing!!

Search this and the chat forum for this - there are a million threads.

Apple don't do spare batteries the bastards so you're stuck with a choice of a solar charger, a battery-powered one or queueing at the Orange Chill and Charge. Personally, I leave the iPhone at home and take a £10 PAYG Nokia instead - do you REALLY want to carry a £500 piece of computer equipment around a (potentially) muddy and wet festival where there are (potentially) tent thieves and when the battery will give up after 24 hours anyway??

Food wise, I'll pack our stuff & whatever space is left, will pack food in. We are taking a gas cooker I bought at ASDA that take gas cylinders. Anything light is going in:

Pot noodles (without the pot as taking a cup)

Condensed soup in a tin- you add a tin of water at site saving weight

Packet savoury rice/pasta things

Marshmallows

Crisps/rice crackers

Tea/coffee/hot chocolate/powdered milk

If there is more space:

Baked beans with meatbals or mini-sausages

Tin rice pudding

Frozen sausages or bacon for the 1st morning

We are having these more as snacks rather than whole meals.

Bananas, peanut butter and a tortilla wraps are ace for sustenance food and breakfast each morning.

Spread PB on the tortilla wrap, stick in the banana, roll and eat! Nom and cheap!

If you're bringing a stove then the pasta and sauce packets you can get in most supermarkets are great. Try to avoid the ones that need milk. Even though you can buy milk on site it's a lot easier just to use the ones that only need water - they taste alright, don't weight much in your bag and give you a decent amount of energy for the day.

Also Beanfeast and a few packets of noodles is a real feast (excuse the pun!) usually serves 2 at least.

If you're trying to camp on Pennards, or near by, then try and sort out a route so that you can park in the West car parks. If you end up in the East car parks then it's a heck of a walk with loads of gear. The easiest way id by going down the M5 to J23 then following the A39 through Glastonbury town and to the festival. There's other roads then may be less busy and there's other posts on here that cover that.

Good luck! :)

If you do take the stove there are basically 2 options:

In a big Tesco you'll find a section containing all sorts of rice/pasta/noodle/couscous/mashed potato meals that you just add boling water to and eat from the pot they come in. That stuff's all really light to carry and saves you having to wash a saucepan out (just take a stovetop kettle). Does get boring though so you'll want some meals from the stalls as well.

The alternative of course is to take a saucepan and tinned food etc (don't forget the tin opener!) and if you really want to eat in style you can always cook something in advance, take it in a plastic container and reheat it once there. I once did a beef stew for 6 on a single burner camping stove at Glasto - cook it with potatoes in and take some bread to have with it to bulk it up a bit.
