MrZigster
So, RAC Autoroute says it should take about two and quarter hours from Glasto to Brum but normal rules obviously do not apply when it comes to leaving The Festival. Now, I want to be parked up and in the NIA by about 7.30pm at the latest, which suggests that I could leave at about 4pm and be well safe, but past experiences tell me that leaving at that time means that although you can get out of the carparks relatively easily, you can hit local rush hours which, mixed with the remaining Glasto Traffic (even that late), can double any travel times. If I leave in the morning it can be ditto for the queues out of Pilton. Anyone from Birmingham? When do you leave and how long does it usually take to get home? Anyone else going to see Roger Waters on the Monday? When are you planning on leaving? Do you have a SatNav ?

ukslim
Where do you live? If it's near Birmingham, I'd be very tempted to leave Glasto in the morning. Then if there's serious delays you can head straight for the gig, or if things go more smoothly, you'll have time to go home, have a shower and a nap, and go out refreshed. phil the shrew
I live in Shropshire but go back through Birmingham. For last 2 years I've left the east car parks at about 3am on the Sunday night/Monday morning - fully stocked up on coffee and red bull! On both occasions it's taken around 30 minutes to get off site due to other traffic leaving at the same time, and then took about 2 hours 30 to get to Birmingham. I guess that this would be similar if you leave between 3am and 6am, but after that will take longer to get off site and through commuter traffic in Bristol/birmingham With all options you also need to remember the weather conditions - if it's muddy there's more chance of cars getting stuck and delays getting off site so leave extra time
KryziF
We usually leave site at about 6am to get back to Coventry. We usually stop in the motorway services for a couple of hours kip and get home about 11am. I do commute round the M42 everyday though and its always congested in rush hour typically 40-50mph traffic and it only takes one accident to get everything snarled up. The same is true for the whole motorway box around Bham M6, M5, M42. Still I would have thought your biggest variable is getting out of the carparks though and I'd be bricking it if I was planning on rocking up at the car at 4pm and hoping to be in Bham for 7:30. If you're not local and can't go home I'd aim to get there earlier as there's plenty of stuff to do in the city centre to pass the time.
