totti50
Hi, first time at glasto this year so looking for some advice pls have been told dairy fields is a good area to camp, is it?? driving from london do we need to take a specific route to get to the closest carpark to this campsite? we are planning on driving weds morning, is there a better time to arrive or is it mental all day? is it a good idea to leave some drinks etc in the car so as not to have to carry it all in one go? or is it a bad idea to go to and from car parks once you are in? been hearing i should buy a trolley, to carry gear from carpark to site, would u recommend this? id greatly appreciate any answers or further advice thanks
cejx
I do the one trip and leave nothing in the car. Get a trolley, but a decent fishing one with pneumatic tyres. Dairy is fine, expect to queue at some point.
rubenz
Dairy Ground is not a bad place to camp, usually plenty of room on the Wednesday and pretty quiet at night time if that's what you are after. South park is a bit further up and is also spacious and quiet The car park which you get to from driving straight through Pilton is probably the best for this (think it is orange)
Cooter
I'd go blue route, park in the east car parks and then enter through PGC asap as in Wednesday night at the latest to get a decent pitch. Don't worry about carrying all your stuff, the walks to and fro can be fun.
LusciousLucy
If you take the advice of camping in Dairy (which is seconded by me), aim for West car parks. No Hill of Death unlike East car parks, a fairly straight route from Ped Gate D and if you can get near to the bottom of it (Dairy/Paines Ground), its not that long a walk to most places. Trolley, what cejx said. Anything less than a sack truck or something with a decent axle and pneumatic tyres is next to useless at the G - the annually added onto the path ways hardcore rocks in the road can be very big. Dont try and and do it in one trip if you have a ton of stuff as this may break your trolley and you will utterly regret your haste as haste will turn into going nowhere. ONE tip though is to possibly do it in one trip but put some of your stuff into the first free lock up you get to and go back to collect it. MEGA TIP: PRINT OFF THE FINE GUIDE from the official site as we werent sent them with our tickets this year. Study it well before the fest too to get an idea of the names of the campsites. Come to the Cider Bus Meet on Wednesday evening from 6pm and come and find the Efest crew and say hello if you can. (I'll be the lady giving out the name stickers ) Check out the pinned thread in the Chat forum. Enjoy your first fest even if the weather is a little inclement. DONT EVEN THINK OF GIVING UP EARLY either if it does rain.

Yoghurt on a Stick
Further advice Don't pitch your tent near or downwind from any toilets. Remember to take reference points when you pitch your tent. These are of the utmost importance if you are to remember how to get back to your tent. This is especially important at night. People arrive all the time pitching tents in the smallest of places, so that your previous perspective will not help unless you have the reference points. This is v.v.very important. Bring a torch out with you at night to help you see tent guy lines when on the way back (big trip hazard, especially when drunk). Do not pitch your tent next to a lighting unit. It may be quiet during the day but will run off a very noisy generator at night - all night long. Use the lock ups. Don't leave money and valuables in your tent. Take loo roll out with you when you venture out. Bring hand sanitizer. Get to know your neighbours as they will then know who does and doesn't belong in your tent. I'm sure others can add to this list.... I'll come back to it if anything else major springs to mind. However there is at least one previous thread on this which should tell you all you need to know as it's quite detailed. It may be over in 'Chat'.
