kaizr
A mate is working the first 3 days at East Compton Farm (which is situated on part of the outside perimeter of the site) from 8am Wednesday, and is looking to drop a couple of us off at a pedestrian gate beforehand with our tents. Can I get dropped off anywhere near a pedestrian gate (or even in Pilton), or will I have to get dropped off at the Bath & West Showground and get the shuttle bus? If it's defo the latter, I will probably just drive myself. Anyone else who hasn't driven ever walked straight in without using the shuttle bus? Cheers
dogboy
Pedestrian Gate A is your best bet. The Yellow route is the main vehicular access to the site including most worker traffic and the Bus Station. Whilst your mate might not be allowed to drive his car into that area there is a lot a traffic trying to come in and out so provision is made for those people that are in the wrong spot and have to be turned away. If you're nimble and quick with your gear, that's the place to do it. Good luck!
kaizr
Cheers for the response. So it might be worthwhile getting my mate to pull up by the yellow gate, and then jumping out. If questioned, I could just say I hitch-hiked up and the driver is working elsewhere on the site. That should work, shouldn't it?
dogboy
It's a very, very large entrance. Get your mate to drive confidently at the entrance even if the people manning it try to turn you away. Once the nose of your car is past a certain point they'll wave you in and instruct you to enter and exit. Hop out then. There's so much traffic they can't afford hold ups with people reversing etc.
