jump
People asked where Biffy fit in when they were booked and that they shouldn't be there to start with yet it was good. I don't see how you can use U2, they are MASSIVE, Queen are a lesser act now and yes are playing a less size. But if it was the original setup they wouldn't look at any UK fest except for Glasto if they wanted t do it.

gazza_20
It's a real fest, they had UB40 last year and it's somewhere near Reading. Yes you are, so far your main argument has been they sold out o2, so what though. The bigger implications are is what it's going to do the fest and the crowd it will bring in aswell as pissing off some of the Soni regulars and again it's not Queen. I remember when Sublime got back together and I'm a huge ska fan, so to see Sublime who never played in the UK would have been brilliant for me but I had no interest in going as Bradley Nowell has long been dead so rather than comprise and go well it's close enough so it's fine I didn't go as it meant nothing to me as I wouldn't be seeing what made Sublime special, the same applies to Queen with Adam Lambert. . she bangs the drums
To me it seems like the festival has struggled to get headline acts, they made it public they were going after Foo Fighters Green Day Blink 182 and RHCP and they would appear to have not got any of them, what I cannot get my head around is why they didn't get RHCP to headline rather than have their own shows? I know they are not as bigger draw as they were in the past but they will sell out arenas and would have shifted 30-40,000 tickets on their own and would have kept the festival as a rock/metal one rather than some pop festival that it would appear they are going for, I'm know what people are saying about the 80s rewind thing but I think that it would have been better for the festival to book say RHCP/FNM/Kiss and Queen and Adam having a one off gig at say Knebworth in the RHCP date or around the Olympics? Ps I'm no massive fan of RHCP and thought they were poor at Leeds Festival in 2007 but I would still rather have them on the bill than Brian May and Adam Lambert, this announcement is really going to divide regulars to the festival, that much is obvious but it would appear for everyone that won't be attending Sonisphere then another person will fill their place because of the Queen/Adam Lambert factor? strib77
Metallica, Biffy, and Slipknot that was Sonisphere 2011and as it should be, targeting the same audience as the previous years, what we needed, to give us an alternative to Download. To put Adam Lambert n Queen on at Soni is an absolute embarrassment and a massive v sign to the Soni faithful, there is a place for Adam Lambert and its def not Soni. Remember what Soni was supposed to be people
she bangs the drums
I know Kipper is made up with Queen and Adam Lambert, but then again, I'm pretty sure he gets a free ticket for the festival so has to remain positive towards the festival.... Justiceforcedave
Although I can understand why some people aren't happy (personally I'm actually quite up for it) one band does not a festival make. Maybe see what the announcement brings in terms of other bands?

Justiceforcedave
That's the problem, there's no 3rd headliner booked and no announcement insight but I have to disagree with you, Soni is the few fests where it does matter as they don't have bands on at the same time on the main 2 stages. Justiceforcedave
...I am wondering about what they'll do for a 3rd headliner.
Gingo
For you maybe. I'm over the moon! As a tribute show to Freddie I think it'll be fantastic, 60,000 singing along to and re-enacting the Waynes World headbanging scene to Bohemian Rhapsody...and Faith No More are just phenomenal. Marker
It makes you wonder though when sonisphere is going to announce because it has obviously angered a lot of people and raised a few eye brows with the mentioning of Queen w/ Adam Lambert. Marker
To be honest it is a great bookig not only for Sonisphere but for the fans aswell I mean it's not like you see Queen performing every year.
jump
But they're never going to be able to book 3 headliners that everyone likes. I accept that this is more of a risk then most others but if the rest of the lineup is stonking I'm sure that'll ease the blow.

Marker
I can understand why people don't like him (Adam Lambert) because he was on American Idol and he is more of a popstar than rockstar but if Queen wanted him then that is good enough for me. If you remember though they have played Knebworth before and obviously Sonisphere see that as a "Return to Knebworth" if you like.

gazza_20
Will you stop comparing Biffy Clyro to someone who didn't even win American Idol :S and i dont think ANYONE thought Biffy shouldn't be there in the first place as you like to put it, people doubted if they should be headlining. Biffy are a Rock/Alt band, Adam Lambert is someone who lost a television talent show. Edited February 4, 2012 by gazza_20

gazza_20
I couldn't care if he came first, last or anywhere in between, he's from a television pop talent show. Maybe Hole can get Cher Lloyd to front them and trade off of the Hole name! (That's sarcasm BTW, and I don't like Hole, but its the example I thought of). What I'm trying to say is, he has no place at a rock/metal festival.
