2013 Headliners

Just seen the Stone Roses at Heaton Park and they were amazing, no doubt that they would be one of the best Pyramid headliners of recent times, forget Muse, U2, Coldplay, even Ian sounded great, listening to John Squire was only what I can imagine what Hendrix would have sounded like, Heaton Park as a venue was shit, 45 mins queue for the bar, long queues for toilets, only allowing the first 20,000 people in the arena wristbands to get in the front part of the arena.

Roll on Glastonbury 2013, hopefully with the Roses are rightful headliners.

The Guardian wrote

his voice can still stun you with its sheer inability to hold a tune, particularly in the company of such fantastic musicians.

Twitter reaction was fairly terrible as well. However everyone has said it didn't matter because 75000 people were singing every word back at him

From the Sun

Reni’s drumming is something to behold — and worth the ticket price alone.

There were question marks about how he’d cope back on the big stage, but he more than answered them.

A lot has been said about Ian’s ability to hold a tune — but he sounded spot on to me.

A solid two fingers up to any critics watching, having Reni giving him a guide on backing vocals did the trick and he held the stage in style.

Red flares burned in the crowd — raising a few worried eyebrows. Glasto’s Michael Eavis even looked in fear for his beard at one point.

Thats strange because I've seen him at Leeds a few years ago and he sounded really awful, but thought it sounded good last night. he is never going to have the greatest singing voice but no one who was with me or around me commented about it.

Maybe the Guardian writer was expecting a voice from X-factor and I know they have been on a mission to slag off the reunions over the past few weeks

This singing is definitely woeful. Basically he knows whether to go up or down, anything else is a bonus

Anyway this gig was much more about the moment than it was about quality of the performance. Everyone says Squire was incredible though

Who's whinging? People are merely pointing out that Ian Brown is an attrocious singer. Yes the fans will of course not give a fuck and will enjoy it anyway but it doesn't mean that others can't comment on the fact that the lead singer in The Stone Roses can't actually sing. Fair play to him, he's made a fortune out of his limited talent purely because he's Ian Brown.
