basically it depends what you're after. i dont really like the music at glasto tbh and must have seen about 6 bands all weekend, whereas at reading i usually see about 20 or so, but this doesn't necessarily mean it's better.

i chose not to see bands at glasto so i could do all this other crazy shit they have there that just isn't offered anywhere else and it was just incredible and i had a top weekend regardless of beyonce and plan b and all the late night stuff and other entertainment is worth the £200 in itself.

on the other hand if i went to reading this year i'd probably see about 24 bands and because of that it would totally be worth the money.

basically it's whatever floats your boat, i think they're both awesome festivals for totally different reasons and when i have enough money i'll be going to both every year i can!

The last two years I've went to three fests,Rockness, Glastonbury and Leeds. I get something different from all three. Rockness I get my fix of dance music and going with a big group of friends. Glastonbury is far more subdued, I get to wander around the site taking in all the sites and sounds and It's alot more relaxed. Leeds is all about the music for me, I go see as many acts as I possibly can which I simply can't do at Glastonbury. You get whatever kind of experience from a festival you want. It's all down to the individual if they get value for money and personally I definately get my money's worth from every festival I go to.

There are plenty of bands to justify your £200 without a doubt. I'll probably watch twice as many sets as I do at Glasto, enjoy myself a little less than Glasto but still a little less than Glasto is a heck of a lot better than most stuff I could do for the same amount of dough. Plus my likely only chance of seeing Pulp and probably The Strokes more than justifies it to me. Elbow, Interpol make it worth the weekend ticket.

Campsite was a lot calmer at Reading last year. Safe around ten times over on the previous year. In fact I turned up at around 3.30 am after chilling in another campsite to find my tent in great condition, the nearest individual around 30m away. The sunday being fixed means I'll be back for a couple more to come I think.

i suppose its the individuals responsibilty to get value for money from a festival.if you dont like the bands then you need to decide in advance if its going to be your thing or not.

in readings case, you know the set up at reading, you know the line up,you know what it like at reading before you go so there really are no surprises.

im always amazed when people say that they went to reading only to find a load of people in a field, drinking beer and watching bands.what were they expecting????? some of these people have been going for years and are still surprised when they turn up.

as far as im aware, reading festival has never claimed to be anything that its not.ive never seen an advert saying 'come to reading festival, theres so much more to do than at glastonbury'

I like going to reading for the bands and im still hoping for a cheapo ticket as its a f**king good end to the summer. But I hand on heart prefer the shangri-la area at G to the whole of Reading, its a guaranteed quality night every time.

I am the type who likes to stay up till wee early hours which is probably why I prefer it.

Didnt it have an hour long queue and a one way system this year?

Reading and ESP Leeds are miles beter than most festivals in the provision of late night activities. Go ask the V punters what the get after 11 at night! I'm nit even sure if they still bother with the cinema tent there any more

In fact the provision of night time activities, is the one area, where I think they have been able to justify charging us more. There was nothing in the late 90s, most of the 00s etc, bar some films, these days you gave the silent disco and much more at Leeds

Glastonbury has ruined Leeds for me. If I'd never been I'd probably still think Leeds was great value.

I guess it is, I think we're still gonna go, will probably pick up some tickets nearer the time for just over the £100 mark. It's sad, but I kinda wanna get to my 10th anniversary next year
