Help with Reading and taxi.

Basically me and my mates are all getting a 9 seater taxi to reading and then getting picked up, it's cheaper and more ideal that the train.

1. Where would be the best place to get dropped off if we're planning to go yellow camp?

2. Where would the best place to be picked up on the Monday?

3. What time should we get picked up?

4. How early would you recommend arriving on the Wednesday?

5. We live in Peterborough which is near Cambridge, how long do you think it might take us to get to Reading?

Well you'll want to go through the main entrance to get your wristband so if the driver will drop you off on Richfield Avenue then that's right there, if not getting dropped off in Caversham should avoid the traffic for him and still only be 5-10 mins walk away for you. If he's going via the M4 then he'd have to drive through the town centre so he might as well take you straight there. I'd imagine it'll take 2-3 hours depending on traffic.

If you're looking at google maps, if the driver comes from the M4 they'll drive north through the town along the A4155. They can either turn left onto Richfield Avenue (the main entrance to the festival is just after the first right, before the Rivermead Centre, so you'll have to go past it) and drop you off down one of the side roads opposite the site where there are a load of industrial units or alternatively keep going past Richfield Avenue, over the bridge into Caversham and stop around there. There's Tesco Express just over the bridge and to the right that might make a good drop off point, but the traffic everywhere will be busy.

Get dropped at red gate if possible, picked up from the hotel on richfield avenue (not sure the name but it's ideal).

What time is up to you, not sleeping on the sunday and leaving early monday morning is what I prefer.

Arrive about 12 oclock wednesday as the doors always open around 2pm regardless of the website times.

Last one depends on traffic.

Have you considered getting a boat down the thames?

All the convenient drop off points around the red gate (Crowne Plaza, Toby Carvery, Kwik Fit, Casino, etc.) are likely to be blocked off at festival time or even if they aren't it's likely to be too busy for a number of people to pile out with all your gear so drive past the gate and stop off at an industrial unit slightly further down.

Probably best to keep the cab well away from the festival when getting picked up on the Monday as the traffic is horrific, definitely best to walk 15 mins and then get picked up there.

Could do, but maybe they don't want to all jump out within 30 sconds but instead might want to get out at a leisurely pace, check they have everything and have a conversation with the driver.
