TITP Highlights (bands at Reading/Leeds)

Been watching the TITP coverage this weekend and even though alot of OP on here have complained about the bands playing both festivals, not getting value for money ect, I cant be the only one who watches it actually excited to see the bands that are playing Leeds as well.

I thought The Vaccines looked great and cant wait to see them. Strokes looked much better than R1BW and Julian actually looked like he was having fun up on stage, even giving a shout to to Albert Hammond Jr.

For all those complaining as well about MCR headlining when they didnt even headline TITP. They pulled a pretty large crowd yesterday and the stage set up was very stripped back, just a black backdrop which the Foos also used. It means that the Reading/Leeds shows are going to be much different as we have to expect a big production stage wise what with it being their first (AND MAYBE LAST  ) headline slot at Leeds.

Yeah I gotta say MCR looked really good on the T coverage and I really look forward to seeing them. Also regarding their set up, they said something in NME saying that they were pretty much going to spend more on the production and show than they would be earning by playing. Anyone else read this a while back?

Impressed by My Chemical Romance, much better than the several predictions of a "dreadful" live performance, a lot of the songs sounded pretty good and I had forgotten that they had some pretty awesome tracks (like SING, Teenagers and Helena to name a few) in their back history.

The only problem seemed to be the crowd was dead for half of the songs. With the addition of time, better stage production and (hopefully) a better crowd it could be one of the surprise highlights of my weekend.

The Strokes still look like a worse option than Jane's Addiction I'm afraid, They put on a good set, much better than at R1BW, and no doubt were enjoying themselves much more, but it all just seemed a bit flat.

On another point, I'm not able to watch Weezer's inevitably brilliant set on the BBC's site, but can watch nearly all of the Saturdays. Sigh.

Interesting that Beyonce would allow her set at Glastonbury to be shown but not T, maybe she only wants to be seen as a headliner or at her own shows. As for Pulp maybe they're planning a DVD of their comeback Summer and want to save the footage for that?

MCR were brilliant, much better than the arena show I went to see, got a good reception from the crowd which I didn't expect.

Only other band playing I saw was Jimmy Eat World, who were good, but a little bit flat, it was a good, solid set, I'll be seeing them again though.

From what other people said, White Lies were really good, and OFWGKTA were great. Roll on Leeds!

Pulp, MCR and The Strokes were all brilliant and considering Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys were pretty bad, should have headlined the festival. Apart from them White Lies were boring and Jimmy Eat World were pretty decent.

One band to see at R&L is Twin Atlantic who were playing a much higher slot at T and really got the crowd going .
