Sick line-ups this year! Never been before but my brother always goes and regales me with stories of how good it is,so hyped. Got mysef tickets for the Aphex night, the Modeselektor/Numbers night, the Jamie xx night and the opening night.

Anyone here got any advice regarding ID? I'll still be 17 for these nights, and can get someone's passport for the weekends in question easily enough. I offered to give the girl money for her new passport and I'd get to keep the old one till I'm 18; considering how often I go out the £70 would be an investment, and it'd mean I'd not have to b other her every other weekend for it.

IF we did this, the current passport would be sent away, wouldn't it? Do they still cut off the corners of the expired one before sending it back? If they do, do bouncers pay attention to this? If a bouncer from the Warehouse Project were to ask for ID, would they a) be likely to notice the cut corner, and B) if they would, would they mind that it was expired or are out-of-date passports generally accepted?

The first night me and my mates go down (who're all 18+), I was going to take them both, try the expired one, see how they reacted, and if they refused it, show them the new passport and say I wanted to know if I could just bring that in future. Again, any experience with this?

I can also get hold of one of her old bank statements or her youngscot card etc, as a secondary but not legally valid piece of ID to back up the expired passport. Again, thoughts? What would be the best piece of 'secondary ID' to prove this? (Bearing in mind I can't keep bank cards of hers for good. I could borrow them for each night but the point of buying her a replacement was so I could keep it and go out solely off that. If I wanted to keep borrowing per night out I could do that, but I'd rather find a failsafe way of going out.)

Any advice regarding old/new passports welcome, it'd be particularly helpful if you had experience with the WHP bouncers though. Thanks, and please spare me any legal lectures; even the sternest posters must have been my age once! :D

I'm not too fussed this year but will probably go to the BNR one and the one Four tet is playing at. But I agree with Katster most people that go are arses, and most of the time it doesn't sell out because of who is playing just the rep it has which is a shame. Anyway you should be fine battle. They do cut the corner of your old passport off which invalidates it and most bouncers only accept valid ID so it may be pretty useless to take if it gets snipped. I used to use a passport of a photo which had a 12 year old on it and never had any hassle but that was a current one. Most of the time I don't get ID'd when I go which is odd as I look about 12.

Thanks for the feedback, definitely considering my options. Be a shame if I didn't get in as I've spent over £100 in total covering the 4 nights and our megabuses there and back (the 5 hour trip back to Scotland on a rager the morning after will be fun lol).

Sick you're goin to Aphex twin, should be ace..seen him before? I never have always wanted to but he rarely plays live..and didn't fancy that wireless thing in London aphex twin playing..but finishing 11pm..no thanks

as to ID - I don't know how old you look for your age - I did see a LOT of people being asked for ID the last 2 times I went - and the bouncers shouting make sure you have your ID ready

as to the passport -why would they cut the corners off? If you get her passport and pay for it - she just reports it lost/stolen..you don't send the 'lost' one back..just leave it as 'lost' but as far as any security/bouncers know it's still a valid in date passport! I don't see why you'd send it back if she has a new one and you got her old one?! just leave it as 'lost' when you really got it, the passport agency will cancel it so it cant be used for anything - but would still be fine for ID just obv at an airport or somewhere when they scan it it'd show that it's cancelled!

No I haven't, so I'm very excited, his set at Rockness last year looked amazing. Hudson Mohawke, Koreless and Zomby are all playing before him too, should be class.

I don't look old enough not to be asked for ID, but definitely look part of the 17-20 student age group. Having valid ID isn't a problem, as I'll have my pals, it's how thorough they'll be about it.

Ah, okay! If she was just ordering a new one I think they make you send the old one back, and they cut the corners to show it's expired. The first one I'm going to is in less than 2 weeks though and I'm quite skint so I'll just have to use it as her current one.

Yikes, this is unnerving, it's a risk I'm willing to take, at least on the first night. If it goes disastrously wrong I suppose I could sell my tickets for the other 3 events. The ID I borrow is valid photo ID, and gets me into clubs (not dives either, Sub Club etc accept it no bother) around twice a month. I am slightly more worried after this weekend, where for the first time with my friend's passport I got knocked back on the basis it didn't look like me. Definitely more paranoid about going all the way to Manchester only to walk the streets for the night whilst my pals get mwi! I was going to order one of those lame student cards with my photo/my pal's details (also maybe take her bank card down for extra credibility), make it seem a bit more legitimate if I did get questioned by the whp bouncers, who I've been told are less than hospitable.

Id just go with her valid ID, taking too much might seem obvious liuke a give away that you arent really old enough or it isnt your ID..as most people dont carry extra stuff in case

maybe its just me

when you got some money just get her to report it lost, then you both have ID :D hers will be valid..yours cancelled but in the eyes of any security still valid!

Success! Thanks everyone for your advice; took the risk and went down with my pals anyway, spent the whole day nervous as fuck/worrying I'd have to go to Sankey's by myself if I didn't get in. Was totally fine with the passport alone, had an amazing night (finally seeing Hudson Mohawke was a dream, SBTRKT played a surprisingly good set, Jackmaster was great fun as always and DJ Shadow seemed to blow everyone's mind) and I can't wait for my other 3 now!! Anyone else there?
