Comedy Stage Options for non English people

Hi!

As we are coming from abroad to the End of the Road and are just intermediate/semi advanced english speaking people we like to know if anybody of you has a hint for us which comedians we can understand the best. As we don't know english sayings that much and are not familiar with country specific things it is of course hard to understand everything properly.

so what do you think which comedian to check out for non english people?

thanks for any help!

bye

Hi Fadeout! I think Lagerabend asked the same question a while ago and got no reply! I do not think I can answer your question as I have never watched the comedy stage and am not that familiar with any of the names, sorry! Although it always seems very full.... There must be someone here who knows....

Hello,

I'm not a native speaker either although my English is now pretty good, init! In my first couple of years in England, I hated comedy only because I didn't get it. It is often very cultural and I still don't grasp eveything (for instance jokes about certain parts of the UK). A lot of it is interactive so don't be offended to be picked on at times and to be asked questions. Now, I try to go to a comedy stage for a few hours at least once in every festival I go to (or the whole day at the Guilfest as the music line-up was poop). You might find some funny ones and others less. There's a lot of regionalism with comedians too: their charm comes from the accent and the region differences. I'd advise you to check them on youtube or myspace or whatever kids go to nowadays in order to determine whether, first of all, you understand what they say!
