already bought tickets, going with my husband - he went in '07 but this is my first time. was wondering if other couples are going or if its mostly groups of friends. up for meeting new people, just none of our friends are into the same music. probably meet new people there into the same music though, if approachable. also not sure if we wanna go vip camping or not, don't wanna be near neds trampling on/raiding the tent but also dont wanna be near people who have a fit if you smoke etc. just wanna have a good time! experiences?

Well you will get a great welcome from the efest camp if you decide to join them.

There are a few couples who go, loadsa mates who meet up at fests and some newbies.

Campsite banter is awesome, much sitting around outside of tents, smoking, drinking and generally having a laugh. There is always someone to go see some band with as well.

im not sure how much it costs but my husband said it was well worth it for the better toilets and showers, plus the vip camping area didn't have to deal with the neds trampling on tents n that, we def. are upgrading when its available, and if you got the early bird tickets it wont seem like that much to upgrade later on anyway, def. we'll all pick somewhere to meet up beforehand if you like.

Yeah makes sense to go vip as you get showers. We bought early tickets too so like you say it wont be too expensive to upgrade. Yeah thats fine we can meet somewhere. We have neva been so not sure where things are layout etc. Most ppl who have been to rockness and titp say that rockness is better. Thats why we are going and it looked pretty good on bbc alba.

Hasn't been an awful lot of complaints on this thread, but in others..lots have complained about the wait at the VIP bar this year, and toilets not been as good as they hoped. But Jim said himself on the online chat that they are completely aware of this, and it will be changed. It's in a cracking spot that looks across the loch and main stage too.. I think I will probably try out VIP this year!

Sorry to resurrect this thread:

I am curious about VIP camping this year at Rockness but I am unsure about Car parking. Do I need to buy a Car Park pass or is it included with the tickets since i cannot find such thing as VIP car parking pass?

I have read that VIP campers ended up in the usual car park last year and many other complaints about VIP. Hope they improve for this year!

Me and my girlfriend are going by ourselves this year. I've been 3 times before and have been to plenty of festivals. Last year was my girlfriends first RockNess and first ever festival and she loved it so much she bought a ticket for 2012 before me!

We haven't thought of plans regarding camping etc but the last 2 years I've camped in and around the efestivals area :)

If showers are high in your priority list then be wise about it...dont go down in the morning!! My gf was 3 hrs in the queue last year on the Saturday morning, walked straight in at 4pm on the Sunday. The VIP bar area is a winner in my book. Chilled as , with a great view of the main stage and loch.
