Hi people.

As title asks - if the gates open at 6am on saturday, what queues (in hours) can we expect before we get parked up? And what queues (in hours) can we expect to wait for the gates to open? We're just tryin to figure out our start time (from Durham..)

I know Glasto is the extreme, but for an 7-8ish gate opener, we get down for 2am with no real car queues to park up, but then wait 4-5 hours in queues to get through the gates..

Just to give you a rough idea:

Last year (bearing in mind Friday wasn't a festival day then). We queued in traffic to get to the car park for about 30 - 40 mins, parked up by 10:45am. Walk to the camp site queue approx 10 - 15 mins, queue to get through main gates approx 45mins to 1hr, walk from the wrist band exchange to tent pitch 15 - 20 mins but that was to the red camp site which was pretty close to the arenas last year.

It will all depend on arrival time I guess, we are setting off a bit later this year so are expecting bigger queues, just crack open a can in the queues and mingle then it don't seem very long at all :D

First festival last year too so we took way to much than needed so was stopping every 2 mins to re adjust and share out the load. Also my stupid mate thought it was a good idea to empty his crate and put the cans of beer loose in his tent cover and drag it over the ground, this ripped his tent cover and he must have left a trail of cans behind him, only realised when we got to the main gates

Thinking about it... I'm probably exaggerating time wise but that's what it felt like carrying 10 tonne of gear on your back

That was the biggest problem we had last year, coz it was our first time we took so many unneeded things that we literally couldn’t carry all the stuff between us - even with a wheelbarrow! It was awful and made the walk seem 10times longer.

This year we have packed essentials and nothing more - we will be skipping to camp ha!

Top tip ever pack light!!!

This is no help to campers but I'll just say it anyway; Last year I went on the Saturday and we arrived about 3 and we didnt queue barely at all. :P

I'm 2 day camping this year and probs wont arrive till bout 11 or 12, hoping there wont be massive queues because a lot of people are going on the Fri

You have to really look for the Hospitality fast track entrance as its not well sign posted and loads of people who were standard camping were in the line not realising, but happily let us through.

Last year it was on the left hand side, the lane next to the railings - if that makes sense?

Thanks for all the comments people.

I only really ask because of the size of tents we're taking. I don't mind queing at all its just if we leave it too late (arrive for 9ish say), by the time we get a field somewhere will there be enough space to pitch a 6 man tent?

Dan-C - what time have you set off then to get yerself a good spot?
