Digi
Hi All Can anyone give me a rough idea how long it will take me to get to the drop off/pick up point on Thursday morning once I hit the M1 exit? I live about 25 mins away from the festival site on a good day, and I need to go and pick minime and his mates up to bring them back for their exam results. Of course, they insisted on early bird tickets so they could get away from us 'rents on Wednesday but I figure its going to be a major pain in the arse getting there and back to Wakefield for 10am on Thursday morning This could either be a really great or a really shit festival for a bunch of 16 year olds from Wakefield! Cheers!
farmer_andy
Oh dear, I subjected my parents to this ordeal back in 2005 when I was collecting my results To be honest, the traffic changes year on year, so it might not be too awful. On the Thursday you can now access the car parks and pick up points both from the A64 and off J45 of the A1. I'm not sure if you get a choice on this or if they adjust due to traffic flow. My advice would be to head up early, as it will be the peak time for arrivals pretty much. Get them to be ready at the pick up point, which I believe is near Red Gate 1. This may be quite busy also around that time. Basically if you don't mind being up early, I'd go early as possible if they're fussed about being at school on time. farmer_andy
Haha just realised I didn't attempt to put a time on this. In previous years on the Thursday morning it has taken me anywhere between about 20 minutes (this was when you could be cheeky and pull a U turn on the A64 in a pub car park and skip the line of traffic) and an hour and a half (this was via the A1 J45 exit) to get into the car parks. Some friends queued for around 4 hours but this was back when it was A64 only. Hope this helps in some small way, sorry its vague but thats kinda the nature of it. Welshyyy
Right this has nothing to do with the Traffic, as i wouldn't no sorry but last year i was going on the M1, merged onto A1(M), and got off at a junction... it was A64 towards York or A64 towards Leeds, i stupidly went towards York, having to take a few de-tours finally found my way back, but i'm guessing i have to go towards the A64 Leeds? (this is for the car park) or is it the junction after?
