Some basic questions...

Hi all,

Signed up having stalked for a while. Creamfields virgin here, Ive gained some sage advice from trawling through threads but theres a few things id love to get a bit of clarification on if someone would be kind enough to spare a few moments.

- Security, ive heard some conflicting reports of how safe the campsites are? Dont leave things in tents? Are people likely to go through our tents looking for money/booze? Whats the realistic chance of someone causing trouble in the campsites?

- Food wise, its all mega pricey by all accounts so I will make my own mind up there.

- Booze, is it STRICTLY no booze outside the campsite, how hard is it to sneak it out? Must be pretty hard to enforce stopping people doing it?

- Ive seen a few people talk about packing light, what are the bare minimums to take and what is the generic bulky stuff that folk take and don’t really need?

Sorry for the disjointedness, just a few thoughts. Feel free to throw in more questions here as other threads seem to have done.

Cheers in advance!

Whats the realistic chance of someone causing trouble in the campsites? Don’t bring valuables, any you do Ie money, phones etc keep on you at all times. I never found them unsafe but there are dodgy ppl out there so no one can say ur 100% Safe. Make friends with the ppl around you n keep an eye on each others stuff. The only thing I had stolen last year was a £3 St Georges camping chair that I left outside the tent.

- Food wise, its all mega pricey by all accounts so I will make my own mind up there. Bring loads of snacks for during the day and have one main meal n set aside like £10 for it. Cereal bars, sweets, crisps, jaffa cakes.

- Booze, is it STRICTLY no booze outside the campsite, how hard is it to sneak it out? Must be pretty hard to enforce stopping people doing it? Rules are no drink to be brought from the campsite to the arena. You can sneak it in the arena but they do search u sometimes. We managed to sneak loads in last year. - Ive seen a few people talk about packing light, what are the bare minimums to take and what is the generic bulky stuff that folk take and don’t really need? Make sure u have layers. I packed stupid stuff last year like something different to sleep in each night - why I don’t know. A whole load of jewellery I didn’t use. trainers I never worse, flip flops I never wore. Just generally being a girl and taking twice as much as I needed.

Make sure u have a top n shorts/trousers for each day. A jumper for night time as it gets cold, sensible shoes. Socks, underwear. BABY WIPES, anti-bacterial hand wash. There is a thread on here someone done with their packing list on. If u need a check list I will be happy to shear mine.

Also about the security thing...I was going to buy a GigLocker...but funds made me choose between one of those or a When Nature Calls wristband, and being a girl - the latter won.

So I'm just planning on not taking anything too valuable and keeping my phone/money/camera in a cross-body bag all the time - even while I sleep! lol :)

Yer I got a £15 phone for this year! As last year I lost mine AND my boyfriends - £400+ down the drain! never again!

Yer defo bring snacks! my back pack is half food half clothes ha.

Also I padlock my tent - I know its not ganna stop them slashing it if they really wanna get in but just makes me feel better knowing its locked - its finding the key at 5am when i cant stand up that’s the problem!

Yep I also sleep with my valuables in my sleeping bag.

is it true the lockers have phone charging facilities? I've got a blackberry and the battery life is beyond a joke! It will never last the two days, so bought a snide one off eBay to keep charged up for when the original runs out...not sure how long that will last though!

I was in two minds last year thinking a padlock on ur tent attracts people but we put one on ours anyway - makes me feel better plus on the other hand it could deter people who cant be bothered to get it off.

Plus this year u wont be able to see it as we have a porch on our tent - sound so posh don’t it ha.

Also make sure ur cars don’t have anything on display - last year a few cars had smashed windows, obviously where ppl left Sat Navs out n that. Easily done when u arrive n ur dead excited.

really wouldn't bother with a padlock on a tent, it'll get slashed in a second anyway if somebody wants in.

with it being creamfields it attracts it's fair share of dickheads, but chances are you'll be sound and won't see a thing. just keep anything of worth with you all the time, mainly being money, phone and keys. then keep them on you when/if you sleep.

as for stuff you need; ticket, tent, sleeping bag, money, phone, baby wipes, deodorant, clothes, water. anything else is a luxury.
