Glasgow's Electric Frog arrives in early September, hot on the heels of their Summer Festival. On the weekend of Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th it mounts another enviable festival weekend of live bands and dj performances, it's forth and most outstanding presentation so far and its last outting of 2011!

Once again the Electric Frog pulls together the finest deejays, electronic music and live performances, compiling an exceptional programme of both international and home-grown talent which is mounted right in the very heart of Glasgow city. Electric Frog continues its evolution, building on the success of previous events, highlights of which include :- Liquid Liquid and Simian Mobile Disco's live performances alongside Felix Da Housecat and Alter Ego at their Street Carnival; Francois Kevorkian, Green Velvet and Slam live at the Easter Weekend; live performances with Marc Houle and Nitzer Ebb alongside dj exclusives from Dubfire and DJ Funk at the July's Summer session.

As with the programming of previous editions of the Electric Frog, a balance is deliberately drawn between new and old, home-grown and visiting talent ,with the festival bringing international acts to appear in Glasgow alongside some of our own brightest home grown musical heros. Its guiding ethos to mix what is new and exciting in the contemporary musical scene with an opportunity to experience some of the seminal artists whose work has inspired many over the years and continues to exert an influence on the present.

Saturday's line-up features some of the most influential and (genuine) legends of house and techno, a chance to experience the historical reach of contemporary dance music right back to its embryonic beginnings, in the presence of the ground-breaking pioneers who brought it into being. The Sunday line-up of live band performances is something different. Here post-punk institution The Fall will play alongside Mercury nomiated newcomers Wild Beast, Scottish post-rock behemoths Mogwai play live alongside fellow scots (and their recent US tour mates) Errors, while there furhter full live band performances from the darlings post-dubstep Mount Kimbie, and the lush elecronic futurism of Stockholm's The Field.

Sunday gives a taste of how the Electric Frog plans to evolve into a broader based event in future. Drawing on the more extensive influences of the organisers and those they collaborate with, the aim is to create a careful mix of electronic and live performances for each outing of the festival, moving ultimately towards an event which could fill the vacuum left by the demise of in-the-city events like Tryptich.

Electric Frog 2011 is a collaboration between Liquid Events, SWG3, Slam Events/Pressure and Synergy Concerts.
