Top 3, Worse 3

just come back from Leeds, didn't stay for Strokes or Pulp, even though i was probably seeing Crystal Castles, broke a rib during Your Demise, and fought through the pain, until it got to much.

My Best Three

Muse - Just breath taking, wouldn't surprise me if this was most peoples top performance of the weekend

Sub Focus - Played to a rammed Tent, was just pure energy everywhere, was amazing!

Yuck/Your Demise - Different types of Music, but both gave everything

My Worst Three

My Chemical Romance - When they got announced i stuck up for these a little bit, thought i'd miss Unkle to go see them, got bored really quick, average at best.

We Are The Ocean - Told a few mates, they was pretty good, the singer (who played the guitar) vocals was very dull, and when the screamer come into the crowd (down the middle part) he didn't even realise he pulled his own mic out, and carried on singer, even though all we could hear was drums and Guitar, won't ever see them again.

Jimmy Eat World - Didn't think they was too bad, but as i made this thread i better make it three, but i thought again they was pretty dull and plain.

(only saw 10 bands so didn't have much to choose from)

Top 3 (Leeds)

We Are The Ocean - Hadn't heard anything from them and was really impressed, perfect opener.

The Offspring - Although I broke my back in a pit at the front I thought it was a good set even if they did look as though they were tiring a little.

Bring Me the Horizon - So much energy, even though I don't like their music, live they were brilliant.

Worse 1 (As I enjoyed all the bands I saw.. apart from...)

The Strokes - Don't like their music, set was backwards in my opinion.

BTW I thought MCR did a good job! After all haha!

Went to Leeds and didnt stay for the last night...

But of the bands i saw...

Top 3

My Chemical Romance - all i can say is, that it was absolutley incredible how good they actually were, i was sceptical about them headlining even though i like em, but boy did they pull it off.

Elbow - Just a really lovely set, was great to see them live and i thought they were top draw.

Muse - Not much interaction with the crowd sadly but the music they played for 2 hours was insanely good.

Worse 3

Bring me the Horizon - Oli Sykes was nuts which was great, but their music is sadly on the poo side.

Deftones - suprising for me to say this, but they didnt play much of their old stuff which was sad.

Blacklisters - saw them on the thursday and they were just a rip off of Enter Shikari in my opinion.

I don't think I can pick 3. I thought Muse were outstanding, there didn't seem to be much faffing about with overly long solos they just got on with it. The only little thing I have a problem with is there was nothing from Showbiz. Thought Interpol and Elbow were good.

However nothing will ever fill me with so much joy as The National, The Strokes and Pulp did last night. Thank you Jarvis!

Had a weekend ticket but came home after MCR n didn't see Sunday. Pretty much all bands I wanted to see on Sunday had seen at Leeds before so wasn't really too bothered.

Watched the following:

Friday

Panic at the Disco

Cocknbullkid

Elbow

Muse

Saturday

New Found Glory

The Naked and Famous

Patrick Wolf

Deftones

The Offspring

30 Seconds To Mars

My Chemical Romance

Hard to pick a top 3, but I was blown away by MCR. The offspring were amazing too.

Only band I thought were awful were 30 Seconds To Mars. Not a big fan anyway, but I liked the Closer to the Edge single. Live they were shocking though. Well Jared Leto was - he can't sing most of their songs! He's so arrogant as well and what was the deal with him thinking he's Jesus or something in his cloak!

Top 3:

Pulp on the final set were just incredible. Jarvis Cocker is one class frontman. Very funny, interacted well and the set was well thought through.

Muse were incredible as ever. I've seen them 5/6 times previously (including two festival headlines) and had they done another standard set, it might have been a bit 'same-old' but seeing one of my favourite albums performed in full was pretty special.

Madness got a great crowd on Sunday and their set was really enjoyable. Bands that have been going for that long usually are.

Bottom 3:

Foster The People - I'd heard good things about them live but was sincerely bored after about 3 songs. Like their album, they have 2/3 strong songs and the rest are a bit 'filler'.

Interpol - I'm not quite sure how I stayed all the way through this. Very pedestrian performance and an odd finish that ended with the final song and "that's all we've got" before walking of stage. No pre-song build up or anything. Disappointing.

The National - They have a couple of good songs on their album, but my word they are a boring band live. I would say they achieved their high-profile slot via album sales, but they didn't have enough decent material to fill that long a set in my opinion.

Best 3

Muse - Loved it

The Offspring - Cracking greatest hits set

Rise Against - Really good set

Worse 3

30 Seconds to mars - No amount of stage show can hide the fact that he cannot sing..........and it proved to me that the guy is a prick

Bring me the horizon - Just terrible

The Festival republic stage - The small tent spoils all the acts, why have the likes of Ed Sheeran on the stage and then a tent that struggles to hold 500 people?

Got back from the weekend at Reading a little while ago, and still on a bit of comedown.

Top 3 of the weekend:

Pulp - I just enjoyed their set so much. Knew most of the tracks they played and was right down the front. A brilliant live act, and one that was enhanced by my not really having that high expectations

Muse - DARKSHINES! SPACE DEMENTIA! SCREENAGER! HYPER MUSIC! Not the best time I've seen them but still one of the best of the weekend

Frank Turner - Just great fun in the sun on the Sunday afternoon. Great singalongs and you could tell that he was loving every minute of playing the main stage (not that I think yesterday will be the last time we see him there).

Honourable mention to MCR who were pretty much on a par with Frank Turner. Certainly silenced many of the doubters with a spectacle worthy of a headline slot at Reading.

Worst 3 of the weekend:

Despite seeing 29 acts over the weekend there wasn't anyone who I felt was particularly bad. I got a bit bored during Big Deal, and Cults weren't all that great. Sharks also lost my attention a bit during their set.

Top 3:

Pulp - Easy, no contest.

1st hour of Muse - Stunning. First time I got to hear Hyper Music, Citizen Erased, Screenager and Darkshines. Stage show worked well with the music, extended versions done brilliantly.

Elbow

Bottom 3:

Jane's Addiction - No show, means 0/10, even if for a good reason

2nd half of Muse - f**king hell The Resistance is a pile of w*nk. And still not as bad as Starlight. Hysteria was fantastic, but the rest of it was dire.

The National - More by default, given that I only saw 4 bands, but that was quite disappointing. Last time I saw them they were immense, last time I saw them at a festival they were immense. They're one of the best live bands I've seen, but that performance was somewhat lacklustre. Not dreadful, but compared to how amazing they've been previously, pretty disappointing. Probably a not particularly interested crowd didn't help.

Reading.

Top 3:

The Bronx - The energy in the tent was incredible, the setlist was perfect and all around brilliant.

Muse - Fantastic, OoS in entirety followed by a swift greatest hits set! Wonderful crowd too.

Frank Turner (Lock-up set) - The sing-a-longs were worthy of this spot alone! he even included a cover of 'Somebody to love' with a hearty atmosphere, Amazing.

Bottom 3:

The View - Dull.

Interpol - Lifeless.

Jane's Addiction - Didn't turn up.

1) Bring me the Horizon - Considering they got bottled last time they were at Reading they absolutely destroyed it. Crowd was f**king mentle. Oli's vocals were on top form aswell, haven't seen him scream like that in ages.

2) Deftones - on top form. Really good set vocally from Chino. Abe Was also amazing on drums. Shame about the shit crowd.

3) Odd Future - the tent was bouncing.

Worst

1) Glassjaw - one of my favourite bands but their setlist was f**king shit. Not one song of the first album, and only 2 songs of their 2nd album. WTF.

Top 3

Muse - Third time seeing them, blew me away again. Seeing OoS in full was such a privilege, loved it.

Twin Atlantic - The band I've seen more time than any other, were incredible at their first Leeds festival. Wanted more of their first album, but still loved it.

The Offspring - Though they would be good, they one upped my expectations. Played such a good setlist, but no Original Prankster?

Bottom 3

Hard to choose because I felt almost everyone was on form, but the ones I enjoyed the least would have to be

Deftones - Enjoyed them last year, this year they didn't seem as good. Wouldn't see them again.

Foster the People - Set was pretty good, but the synths weren't loud enough and I felt a bit bored midway.

DFA 1979 - I saw them in London earlier this year, loved them there. I enjoyed it at Leeds, just not as much.

Was at Leeds and can't believe i'm saying this but for me it was the 3 headliners that were the best.

1. MCR - I'm a fan anyway but wasn't sure they'd pull it off as a headline act. They absolutely nailed it, they couldn't have done it any better.

2. Pulp - Purely for the entertainment.

3. Muse - Awesome live band but they disappointed me last time I saw, Leeds restored my faith in them.

Worst

1. BMTH - Didn't actually watch them but I could hear them and that was bad enough.

2. Deftones - Was expecting a lot more from them.

Can't choose a 3rd because no-one else I saw was that bad, but no-one else was amazing either.

Top:

1) Pete Doherty - Wasn't going to see him but got to muse late but decided I couldn't be arsed in the end so went to watch Pete, one of the best decisions ever, the crowd were f**king nuts for him, best atmosphere at a gig I've seen..

2) f**ked up - The fact that Damian (lead singer) spent 3/4 of the time in the mosh pit with the crowd was crazy, brilliant.. I also got to touch him like 5 times :D

3) Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes - loveelllyy

Worst:

Not many bands I didn't like , but MCR come close. I guess it was the lack of crowd and dead atmosphere that made it that way..

Best 3:

Muse - Utterly

MCR - Pulled it off, and I'm a sucker for a Brian May cameo :P

Elbow - Such a wonderful atmosphere

Worst 3:

30 Seconds to Mars - he may have hit one or two notes, but they weren't the ones he was aiming for

The Offspring - Not because they were terrible as such, but were very flat and didn't seem interested, very disappointing from a band I've been wanting to see for a while

Islet - slightly harsh on my part, they were on the FR low down but I'm afraid it didn't really work

Top

1. Pulp - unbelievable, staggering, amazing. Wow, Jarvis is a legend.

2. Muse - felt more like an audio/visual experience than a gig, but OoS was great and who doesn't love lasers and flame throwers.

3. Elbow - It stopped raining, Guy was on top form and there great.

Bottom

1. Benjamin Francis Leftwitch - drib, drab, boring

2. Frank Tuner - big fan of Frank and was looking forward to his set massively but it was pissing it down and i think he works better in a tent so the atmosphere felt a bit shit(would have seen him on the lock up but really wanted to see Elbow)

3. The Strokes - They really couldn't be arsed and it was pretty obvious, so glad we had Pulp headline

Top:

1. White lies - 'kin smashed it!

2. Pulp

3. Odd Future/The streets

Bottom:

1. Enter shikari - truely horse shit. Posh boys trying to save the world with their clan. No thanks.

2. Panic at the disco - caught the last 10 minutes, terrible.

3. Rise Against - I was really looking forward to them but the sound levels were awful. Couldnt hear vocals at all at some points.
