Best crowd in a while?

We were a group of 17 year olds at our second festival, and decided to camp in Green (Leeds), basically to get away from the stuff that happened last year xD. We had a great time, without the need to burn tents, get wasted or anything, and we all saw the bands we wanted too.

There were loads of preppy girls about though, and one lot said "I was on the mainstage last night, who was playing? I think they are called Muse... dunno why they headlined never heard of them tbh"

And they they all went on to say how it was a bad line up cause of a lack of Florence and the Machine and stuff like that.

I can't comment on how it compares to previous years as I've not done Reading before, but I'm 32 and the crowd felt young, but there were enough "oldies" there to not make me feel awkward. Fair play to those who are there for the music but I don't get the "lets just get pissed" attitude- it's a flipping expensive way to do it. The festival doesn't have much of an atmosphere- I'm not too sure what or who it's meant to cater for compared to other festivals I've been to, but I don't expect the festival to make the atmosphere, and I'm actually there for the music and comedy so as long as that's good, I'll have a good time anyway.

This was my first Leeds festival and I had a great time. My one complaint about the crowd came on Sunday when The National were on.

I love the national and I was surrounded by twats singing Strokes songs, shouting randomly and quoting the Inbetweeners film. If I didn't actually like the Strokes myself I would have left straight after the National.

Having said that I did meet some fellow National fans who sung their hearts out with me, That made it much better :D

I went to Offspring on my own thinking there'd be loads of people there up for a dance, got there and the crowd was utterly dead, I managed to find one guy who was pretty smashed and going for it, cleared ourselves a little space and got our rave on, the boring basterds in the crowd just looked at us like we were mental just for enjoying ourselves.

Leeds:

Sunday while watching The National, randomly stood there watching the band, a guy behind me (20-25 years old) got jumped by 14-15 people aged around 18-22... no matter how much of the crowd got involved we all got pushed away, until the stewards come and they all run off.

It was my first year and I was pleasently surprised about how good the crowd was. I was expecting people to be twats but I rarely came in contact with a twat and it was way more chilled out than I thought it was gonna be.

Except for when someone fell on my tent, f**k everything about that.

I'll probably return. Something I thought I wouldn't say.

The crowd was a lot better than i expected, but that is just because i expected the worse. Had a good time overall, but think i will only return if the line up is really something special. The very young crowd and poor sound on the mainstage (Reading) means i will probably look for somewhere else in the future.

there were a few twats here and there at reading. one thing that did get on my nerves though in relation to the crowd is the constant moshing. its understandable if your going to mosh to someone like architects but when i saw people trying to mosh during 2manydjs(and ended up failing to time the drop) it pissed me off. i just wanted to dance and enjoy the music and not worry about some c**t trying to barge me over.

i remember seeing crystal fighters who were on just before devlin and the crowd was full of these 'lads' who kept moshing and kept barging into our girls. they even moshed to Plage. i think half of crystal fighters crowd was waiting for devlin, which was a shame cos they were really good imo.

other than that the crowd was pretty fun i thought

Thought it was pretty good, about same as last year.

With 90,000 people it is inevitable there will be some idiots, however they are in the minority but you don't realise that if you come across or camp next to them.

One thing I noticed was it seemed alot less busy, did Leeds sell out?

I gotta say that I had a much better time in the NME stage compared to the main stage or any of the other places. The atmosphere in that huge tent is unbelievable, and the sound is soooo much better than the main stage. Crystal Castles and The Streets totally blew me away. A decent line up in there next year will probably tempt me back to be honest.

i went to Reading this year and had a brilliant time and there did not seam to be as many dick heads ... but on the other hand on the saturday like 6ish i went back to my tent to get a jacket and was completely shocked by the amount of people who was still sat there, there was alot of people who just came to drink this year but none of them ever coursed me any trouble

It's definitely a young festival. It's just a shame that the majority of the kids there are absolute tit ends. I noticed there were more annoying teenie girls than usual this time as well. Lots of Ellie Golding jean shorts and face paints.

I think I'll be heading elsewhere next year. Shame because I love the lock up tent.

Worked at Reading this year, was my 6th (5 years of being a punter). The atmosphere was so very very odd. A lot of very young people, much younger than the norm. Half consisted of some very well musically educated music fans (so many Pixies t-shirts!) and the rest were the dickhead lot. A nice atmosphere in some respects, but seeing a group of lads smash up their tents tainted it. So childish.

This was my 8th Reading (plus 1 Leeds) and for the first time i wasn't looking forward to this year's, (Normally i'm buzzing months in advance) but i gotta say this was my favourite Reading since 2007. People were generally more friendly, there was less pissed up youngsters trying to barge past you like you ain't even there, the new size of the NME tent was a massive plus and i really enjoyed the line up. Saw 26 bands over the weekend so i got my monies worth.

Roll on next year.
