thesecretingredientiscrime
Well Strokes didn't even headline the 2nd stage as TITP and the last album flopped badly, I even made the prediction that they would only sub (so I was half right) and as already mentioned MCR struggled to sell tixs on their own tour after a 3 year absence so it's not really a step up as they have gone backwards since the Black Parade was huge but they made the step up during their height at Download. jump
That's T though. Also, last record flopped badly? It got to number 3? Edited September 13, 2011 by jump
thesecretingredientiscrime
I never argued they're strong headliners. I debated the fact, using punctuation, (which unlike you I am actually aware of), that Biffy and Bloc Party would be a bigger draw as headliners. mrtourette
Why are you even argueing that Strokes & MCR are strong headliners? The pair of them have spent all summer playing and not headlining other UK festivals.
rexclark
Well I seem to have changed my mind. I've been to every Leeds since 99 except one (I went to Reading in 2000, can't say I enjoyed it) I may well be giving it a miss next year. I've had some great times at the fest but gradually my group is getting smaller and now it's mostly just me and my girlfriend. The line ups are gradually becoming less tempting and it's too much cash. We've booked tickets for Bestival next year which is two weeks later so getting time off for both would be a pain and I quite fancy Lattitude as well so that means no more holidays at work. If the line up is impressive I'll go but it will take alot to get me back but who knows what the future holds. I've some of my best memories in life at leeds festival and i'll be sad to say goodbye but I think it may be time to bow out.

rexclark
The only acts that will attract me back next year would be Blur, The Smashing Pumpkins or Daft Punk all of which are highly unlikely so it looks like I'll be giving it a miss. swede
I honestly dont give a fuck whose playing, Ive already decided im going back and have already had my mother-in-law pencil in that weekend for babysitting duties for my two littlans. I know there will be enough bands on the lineup to keep me happily entertained.
Benj
After voting I was done with festivals, this nice weather has done me like a sucker and I've booked a non refundable Hotel, so I'll be there. *changes vote*
Bisque
Every year I moan about the line up getting worse... yet every year I seem to have a better experience (I guess there's more time to socialise with the group I don't often get to see as much as I would like & more chances to see new music). Will definitely be back next year if I can get the time off work.

rexclark
I guess one of the main reasons that I'll probably not go next year is the fact that the group I used to go with have mostly stopped going or go elsewhere. Had a good time at Leeds this year with just me and my girlfriend but had a much better time at Rockness where there was a large e fest camp so I would say the festival's much more enjoyable if there's a big crowd of you having a laugh. Bisque
My friends were lucky enough to get VIP campsite tickets last year so I went alone & found a new group to go with, & have decided to join them again next year. I think the festival now has become less about the music & more about actually enjoying it for what it is. It will never be a Glastonbury & it's not trying to be, but I had just as much fun at both last summer for different reasons & with different people. Just hoping now that there's at least one decent headliner (Foos as I haven't seen them since Reading 2005 & they looked brilliant at this years festival highlights)
Bisque
Plus the teenagers don't really put me off all that much. Some are actually all right.
PurpleFire
Im going back next year, will get my ticket in March. 2011 was brilliant, went with a larger set of mates, and had a great time! The Music on a whole was not as good as previous years but there were some exceptions, Muse, Enter Shikari, Elbow and some others! Saw 26 full sets and to be honest its still very good value for money! 4 Nights of sitting around a fire with your mates and some of the best bands in the day is cheap for 200quid! Bisque
I've decided I'm going back, just booked the time off work. But I'll have to go to SGP & Bestival too to make up for no Glasto.
dirtymookie
Some people on here make me laugh. 99% know they'll go back and no matter who the headliners or subs are, there's always loads of bands to see or other things to do. If you can't enjoy yourself at a festival there's something basically fucked up with you!

evilduck
We always end up back at Reading every year, despite the other festivals we go to. It's always got the best bands to cater to our groups tastes and after seeing the atmosphere improve last year we're not even dreading the campsite so much. purplehaze81
Having been to Leeds 4 times and Reading once in the past 5 years, I will be giving it a miss this year. The only thing that would definitely draw me back would be Blur (or REM but I think that is certain not to happen now). Other than those two I think I've seen everyone I want to see. rexclark
Or they're considering better festivals with more on offer?
purplehaze81
I've just turned 30 and I know there was no way I was going to be attending Leeds forever.
she bangs the drums
I cannot believe some people are saying they are to old at age 30, I only started to go to Leeds at age 30, 8 years on and I'm hoping to go again as long as the line up is decent.
