Leeds

Friday

The View 5/10

Enter Shikari 4/10 - sounded terrible, which is a shame because last year they nailed it.

Panic! - 7/10 - A lot better than I expected.

Muse 10/10 - Simply amazing.

Saturday

NFG - 5/10 - Seem to really drag on, plus the main stage sound didn't help.

Rise Against - 6/10 - Sounded really good, just couldn't get in to it.

Deftones - 4/10 - Just terrible.

The Offspring 7/10 - could have been so much better though, seemed a bit half arsed and they didn't play original prankster.

30 Seconds To Mars 8/10 - Despite the fact that he sang for like 2 minutes during their entire set I thought they killed it.

MCR - 10/10 - Killed it, Thank god they pulled it off. Was a bit gutted when Brian May didn't turn up at Leeds though.

Sunday

Pigeon Detectives - 7/10 - Seem to really enjoy it, quite energetic, sounded great.

Seasick Steve - 6/10 - Can't say I'm a fan but he did himself justice.

Two Door Cinema Club - 7/10 - Everything I expected them to be really.

Madness - 8/10 - So much fun.

The Strokes - 4/10 - Really disappointing.

Pulp - 10/10 - Perfection.

FRI:

Pulled Apart By Horses - 8/10 - Great way to start off the weekend. Top band.

Frankie & The Heartstrings - 7/10 - Didn't know much of their stuff but they were great.

Miles Kane - 7/10 - Really enjoyed him, sounded great.

BMTH - 9/10 - This was a real surprise. I thought they absolutely nailed it!

Cerebral Ballzy - 7/10 - Quite strange but good nonetheless.

Kirk Spencer - 7/10 - Decided to stick around the Introducing Stage for a bit with my mate and we discovered this lot. Pretty good.

Deftones - 7/10 - Actual performance was great but the crowd was pretty lame.

The Vaccines - 8/10 - Very good.

Noah And The Whale - 8/10 - LOVED the Bohemian Rhapsody intro, great singalong. Overall performance was brilliant.

30 Seconds To Mars - 6/10 - Jared Leto talked way too much for my liking.

MCR - 8/10 - Only saw the first half of the set, legs ached like they've never ached before so i decided to retire back to the campsite! However i thought that they were great, pretty much silenced the doubters.

SAT:

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zero's - 7/10 - Thought they were great. A nice surprise.

OFWGKTA - 8/10 - f**king crazy!

Madness - 8/10 - A lot of fun.

Bombay Bicycle Club - 9/10 - Quite brilliant, definitely a band that has come of age.

Crystal Castles - 9/10 - Immense! Had missed out on them at previous Reading's, but not this time. Quality.

The Strokes - 5/10 - Most disappointing band of the weekend for me, atmosphere was flat and overall i just found it really dull.

SUN:

Cage The Elephant - 9/10 - These guys should be bigger than they already are. Great band, another fantastic performance!

Chapel Club - 7/10 - Was alright.

Friendly Fires - 8/10 - Top-notch.

DFA 1979 - 8/10 - Saw the first few songs and they were awesome.

Elbow - 9/10 - Absolutely amazing.

Muse - 10/10 - Just bloody incredible. Probably the best crowd i've been in for a Reading headliner as well, utterly awesome.

At Leeds...

Friday

Dananananananakyroyd 6/10 - Only Saw a few mins but was pretty impressed.

Taking Back Sunday 5/10

Frank Turner 9/10 - This guy is just awesome

Cage The Elephant 6/10 - Not as good as I'd hoped

Nachos - 7/10 Not bad value at a fiver and very tasty

Enter Shikari 4/10 - Cold and wet, plus the sound was horrible

Friendly Fires 7/10 - Very Entertaining (Dancing), pulled of the high slot

Interpol 7/10 - Very tight performance but their a bit too cool to talk to the crowd apparently

Elbow - 8/10 - Better than I'd anticipated, but was right at the front and getting my hands up every 2 mins was difficult

Muse - 9.5/10 - Just incredible, Map of the problematique would have made it a 10

Saturday

Miles Kane - 6/10 - Would have enjoyed it more but for the warm liquid that was thrown over me & mates during his set

Pizza - 8/10 - Worth the £8 - Huge! - couldn't eat it all

Naked & Famous - ?/10 Only saw 2 songs, didn't seem bad though

Rise Against - 7/10 No Give it all let the setlist down <_< crowd was a bit flat too, but a good performance nonetheless

Deftones - 6/10 - Sound was a bit off and a poor setlist, but still very enjoyable

The Offspring - 9/10 - They've still got it and I really enjoyed their set

30 seconds to Mars - 5/10 - Pretty Self explanatory

White Lies - 8/10 - Very Accomplished performance even though I only saw half of it

My Chemical Romance - 8.5/10 - Proved the doubters wrong with a great set

Sunday

Funeral Party - 6/10 - Looked a bit bored but not an awful set

Yuck - 6/10 - Enjoyed seeing the band helping set up but got a bit bored during their set

Seasick Steve - 8/10 - Love this guy live and his set was perfect

Two door cinema club - 5/10 - was so bored during their set, and thought they used too much backing percussion and synths.

Bacon Cheeseburger - 7/10 - Very tasty and seemed good value but the beef was a bit suspect

Madness - 7/10 - unplanned viewing but it was a lot of fun and they drew a huge crowd

Jimmy Eat World - 7/10 Pretty much my favourite band so could be biased, but even I didn't think they were at their best, that's what you get though when it's your final shows of 6 months of touring.

The National - 6/10 - Not as good as I'd hoped but I blame the wind for the bad sound

The Strokes - 8/10 - Better than I'd expected and the pit was fun

Pulp - 7/10 - Planned to see Jane's but Pulp weren't a bad replacement, had a tasty milf come on to me too ;)

Friday

Architects - 6 - Good band to start off the festival, the rain made it more pumping.

Does It Offend You Yeah? - 6.5 - Crowd were brilliant, very jumpy to say the least.

Bring Me The Horizon - 7 - Finally matured, good to see them interact with the crowd, including crowd surfing the guitarist to the back.

Deftones - 8 - Put on a good performance, definitely one of the highlights.

Sub Focus - 7 - RAVE

Nero - 8.5 - Most intense set of the weekend for me, BASS.

30 Seconds to Mars - 7 - Jared Leto had his moments, surprisingly good set.

My Chemical Romance - 8 - Think they proved every single doubter (including me) wrong, solid set.

Saturday

OFWGKTA - 8.5 - Never ever seen anything so dangerous in my life, not at their best though have to admit.

Madness - 7 - Great fun, loved everyone's dancing.

Jimmy Eat World - 5 - Disappointment of the weekend.

Glassjaw - 5 - Only caught the last half, thank god for that.

Bombay Bicycle Club - 8.5 - 'Always Like This' did it for me, brilliant atmosphere.

Pulp - 8 - Jarvis Cocker is a showman, definitely know how to put on a performance

The Strokes - 7 - Enjoyed them, good setlist, but never really reached a peak really.

Sunday

We Are The Ocean - 5 - They tried, but unfortunately nothing worked for them.

Your Demise - 6 - Only caught the last bit, though looked good!

Frank Turner - 6.5 - Impressed.

The View - 2 - Don't make me laugh. Didn't realise they were on.

Enter Shikari - 7.5 - Crowdsurfing, moshing, paper cup throwing, jumping.....

Friendly Fires - 8 - His dance moves stole the show.

Interpol - 5 - Another let down.

Elbow - 9 - Fantastic performance, so beautiful.

Muse - 9 - As a hardcore fan, this is a bit biased, BUT, they were great, setlist was decent, stage set up was beyond brilliant, flamethrowers were very hot, lasers were blinding, if only they had played something from Showbiz.

Friday

Miles Kane - 6 - Nice set, shame it got cut to short.

Rise Against - 4 - Not impressed, seen them before and they have played alot better.

Deftones - 7 - Nice surprise, don't know alot of there stuff but they were very good.

Offspring - 7 - Good set, sound great. You can tell Dexter wern't happy with the crowd.

White Lies - 7 - Crowd went crazy for them, big turn out too. Sound was briliant.

MCR - 8 - I was honestly quite upset when I found out they were headlining, but they were 100% best surprise of the weekend, put on a real fun show.

Saturday

Yuck - 9 - Big fan, loved every minute. Something very different from alot of the bands that weekend.

Seasick Steve - 8 - As good as always, was pleasantly surprised when John-Paul Jones walked out too.

Odd Future - 7 - Not bad, but the crowd was full of wronguns, saw things nearly kick off because somebody pushed a girl in the face walking out.

Madness - 7 - Good fun, got the crowd going. Just an act you can watch and smile.

Jimmy Eat World - 4 - Did't enjoy them, apart from the last 10 minutes it was a very plain set. Heard somebody got seriously injured too which is not nice.

The National - 6 - Never listened to them before, but they had some real strong tracks. The singer could't stop reminding me of Thom Yorke though.

Pulp - 10 - Easily band of the weekend, loved every second. Will personally be gutted if they end things now their tour is over.

The Strokes - 8 - Had a good setlist which was nice and Jarvis coming on stage was pretty special.

Sunday

f**ked Up - 5 - Guess it was alright to stand around and watch some man roll everywhere for a while.

Enter Shikari - 5 - Seen them many times before; expected more. They sound terrible! Crowd looked like they were having fun though.

PATD - 6 - They got the crowd going, but not really my cup of tea. Not going Friendly Fires was a huge mistake.

DFA1979 - 7 - Could't believe how small the crowd was, played a good fast set and sound great.

Elbow - 8 - Great sub to Muse, opening with The Birds was a personal highlight of the festival, beautiful song.

Muse - 9 - Was so happy to see OoS in full, they pretty much got all the hits in there too which was nice. Brilliant set.

Leeds

Friday

Our Fold - 6/10 Only caught the first couple of songs, sounded good.

We Are the ocean - 6/10 I liked what I heard.

Taking Back Sunday - 6.5/10 Good, only spoilt by rain.

The View - 6/10 Not my cup of tea but had a good bit of energy and they enjoyed it.

Chapel Club - 4/10 Mic issues for the first couple (Five trees & Surfacing) ruined it for me.

Death From Above 1979 - 8.5/10 Really good, all I expected it to be. In the top 5 of the weekend.

The streets - 7/10 Played well and I enjoyed it.

Muse - 10/10 Awesome. Origins is my favorite Album, nice to hear New born. Greatest hits that followed were also great, much better than their own show at Old Trafford cricket ground last year.

Saturday

Pulled Apart By Horses - 8.5/10 Love this band, bags of energy, great songs (including the new ones) just lacked bodies in the crowd otherwise it could have been pushing 10.

The Blackout - 7/10 Not heard that much from them, will be listening to more I think.

Miles Kane - 7.5/10 Loves his self a little bit but it had all the right ingrediants of a great rock n roll show.

Mona - 6/10 Godd at points but also had some low points.

The Naked and Famous - 4/10 Like them but got bored almost straight away.

Rise Against - 6.5/10 They were good, was more looking forward to the next two on.

Deftones - 6.5/10 They were good, crowd was crap. Rise Againsts singer was Let down by the mic which ruined passenger!

The Offspring - 9/10 Played everything I wanted, were great live, good crowd, Couldn't out-do Weezer in that slot from 2010 though!

Thirty Seconds to mars - 0/10 Saw their own show in November was Pissed that Jared didn't sing half the words then, works even less at a festival. Too much dicking around and He thinks he is some sort of saviour. Got somone out of the crowd because he wasn't jumping and said "I just want you people to have the best ever rock show." Maybe if you actually sing the words to the songs Jared you could be decent. It does not look like he can play and sing at the same time. That bands only saving grace is an excellent Guitarist/keyboard player. Everything that could be bad about the show was!

General Fiasco - 9/10 Total opposite. Everything that a rock show should be. Great Songs, great crowd, sing alongs 'with' the band. Played through and sung properly. If only they had another 20 mins.

My Chemical Romance - 9.5/10 Think they are ok on record, had a lot of doubts as to wether they could do it, howevr they did and they Killed it, surprise of the weekend.

Sunday

Yuck - 7/10 love their sound, enjoyed the set.

The Pigeon Detectives - 7/10 the hits were good along with their energy.

Jimmy Mcghie - 7.5/10 Got there early for Mark Watson and saw Jimmy, Very funny.

Mark Watson - 7.0/10 not as funny as I'd have hoped but still good.

Madness - 7/10 first half not so good, but second half excellent.

Jimmy Eat World - 8.5/10 Great performance, great set selection.

Little Roy - 6.5/10 Different way to hear Nirvana, nice and chilled set.

The Strokes - 5.5/10 Un-impressed with the sound quality further back, a bit like going through the motions on stage too.

Rival Schools - 8.5/10 Great energy and great crowd. A band that could get back on it after a long while off. Deffo would see them again.

Pulp - 10/10 Band of the weekend, great show from Jarvis, storylike set. Great end to a good weekend. Packed out as well due to Jane's Addiction pulling the plug. Very fitting. Gutted I missed Do you remember the first time as I was still at Rival Schools.

Leeds

Friday

Warpaint 7/10

Friendly Fires 6.5/10

Interpol 5/10 most disappointing band of the weekend

Elbow 9/10 simply beautiful performance

Muse 9.5/10 I have been critical of Muse in the past for going through the motions but possibly because this was one of two unique shows rather than a long boring tour they absolutely killed it

Saturday

Marlon Davis 6/10 not bad

Al Pitcher 5/10

Tim Minchin 2/10 completely fail to see what is so good about him

The Petebox 7/10 talented guy

Henry Rollins 9/10 absolutely fantastic, true legend, shame so few people seem to know him even if just from Sons of Anarchy

The Offspring 7/10 enjoyed them

30STM 0/10 I thought Paramore were the worst sub I would ever see due to them being boring and generic but 30STM are just utter shite, all time festival low

White Lies 8/10 walked away from 30STM to catch White Lies and I am so glad I did, great performance

My Chemical Romance 7.5/10 Seemed to want to grab their opportunity with both hands, not the best headline performance ever but not anywhere close to the worst, very soild.

Sunday

Madness 7.5/10 huge crowd, enjoyable

Jimmy Eat World 7/10 great set heavy on Bleed American and Futures which I was glad about

The National 8/10 started off struggling a bit, wind affected performance, by Squalor Victoria they had found their feet and got stronger and stronger, fantastic setlist. Shame about the tiny crowd, shameful that so few people know such a great band.

The Strokes 7/10 great setlist but not the most passionate performance, quite enjoyable though.

Pulp 10/10 I saw them at the Heineken festival at Roundhay park that Jarvis spoke about all those years ago, I saw them on the different class tour in Sheffield, and it was wonderful seeing them headline Leeds all these years later, absolutely stunning performance.
