lemonade123
1st time at creamfields this year and i could not believe the amount of robbing going on! peoples belongings slung all over the camp site. I laid in my tent saturday and sunday night juat waiting to get robbed. Any one else felt the same or was it just my "paranoia"?????
Delboy71
I didn't camp but saw nothing in the Arena. You're the 2nd person i've heard of talking about robbing going on but not heard of it being widespread. The majority of people I know had no problems at all in the Arena or campsite. ScotLad
Had some sketchy guy standing behind me at Chem Bros.. we moved forward, he followed, walked away.. he started to follow then stopped. Obvious pick pocketer! Sunday I noticed few guys going about with headtorches looking into peoples tents ducking down, looked like obvious thieves! Thing is I was staggering about looking for my tent and watch tower spotted me doing so (probably thinking I was a thief, as I was walking about alone) sent a group of security down to verify I had wristband on, then all was fine.. thing that got me was the security pulled me up right beside the area I actually seen thieves, maybe they werent seen by watch tower. Overall, only dodgy thing I witnessed was that guy at Chem Bros, it was too blatent. The guys on Sunday might have genuinely been there tents, it was just fact I seen them ducking at the tent porch with a headlight on. But to be fair it does kinda show security maybe was heightened, because it was literally 5 mins and they had sent 8 guys down, then I just heard control tower radio "check for wristband, possible suspect"... marc81
I read a few horror stories on the Creamfields FB page regarding the poor security and the notorious scouse thieves/muggers - it all seems to be mainly aimed at the camping side of things though (this is why I don't camp!). ScotLad
Seen nothing in blue camp anyway! Managed to avoid it thankfully, I think security were quite poor in general, most of them seemed like thugs. And 9 times out of 10 it was just groups of them talking, I'll admit I was in a bad state but one steward sent me to luxury campsite exit rather than blue where I was camping. Jenny2603
I didn't see any problems in the Red campsite but there was a lot of stuff scattered about but I think this was because a lot of people's tents didn't survive the rain and wind! megman
2nd year camping at Creamfields (in hospitality) and havent seen any trouble what so ever. Never seen anyone being robbed or even any fights! We saw a dodgy bloke when Chem Bros were on too!! We just moved away and luckily he didn’t follow. Really sad to hear about ppl who had stuff taken as it puts u off ever coming to the amazing festival again. Was really surprised with security again this year, arrived for when the gates opened no one looked in our bags, no police, no dogs only question asked was why my bf had two crates when the allowance was one, we explained one was mine and off we went. Didn’t see many security round the campsite thinking about it, must have just been very lucky. In and out of the luxury campsite they were pretty strict on showing bands, blokes being patted down, girls bags searches - I mean u could still get things passed but they did seem better. We were given the incorrect wristbands at the gates and were refused entry in to the luxury campsite until we showed tickets that had Hospitality written on them - that’s another story in itself. coolhull
I personally didn't see no tent thieves, I also think its who you camp near too, for example we where near 2 groups of really sound lads and they wer sitting up until the sun came up all nights so i think thats off putting for thieves but if you in a dark quiet area than i think you prime targets!! creamwired
A group of 2 men and 2 women tried to pick pocket me, was like a set up scam by the looks of things, one girl dancing and trying to dance with me then her 'boyfriend' having a go at her then another girl with them kept trying to slip her hand in my pocket, luckily i clocked on to what was happening. However they then moved on to the group of lads next too us and successfully got them. But the group (some irish scallies) though it was me that had done and i was threatened with a knife. not a nice end to the weekend :/
Houston7
I must admit I didn't feel safe in my tent, especially on the sunday night, I was ready for leaving!! Listening to groups of lads talking about what they had already pinched from tents, what they wanted to go looking for and about setting tents on fire and this was literally 20 yards away from my tent! Even being infront of the information centre on Red Camp didn't make me feel any safer! However, I have to say I didn't have any trouble personally and our tent didn't get touched the 3 nights we was there. As much as I loved the event itself I just wouldn't have the nerve to camp again ..... I am considering booking the hotel for next year ready though, hehee x
ScotLad
As it was the Saturday and our first year we decided to look in all tents and stages to get a feel for it and ended up back of the crowd for Chem Bros, funny thing was my pal stared right at him and he still decided to enter our personal space kinda thing. Might have been same guy mate! Think its useful we were camped right next to the watchtower as they did send security down to me quick.. but I think.. as a general rule of thumb (not just for creamfields but for every festival I've been to), all the trouble seems to be the campsites closest to the enterance. Feel free to correct me but from my experience I avoid them. Edited September 5, 2011 by ScotLad

awsl13
We did think about booking a hotel for next year but ones close are fully booked, what are taxi prices like for one lets say 3 miles away, i assume they hike the prices up quite a bit? Can you even get a taxi back to a hotel or are you waiting for like a hour?

marc81
Article on the Warrington Guardian today about someone randomly getting their face slashed in the SHM tent at about 5.30pm on the Sunday. Marc
CeeCeeLuvsDancing
I hate stories like this... I guess it happens everywhere though, I go metal festivals and it goes on there just as much. A nice story... my brothers wallet got lost, and handed back with everything in it... well, mostly everything. The £80 was still there. Lol. ScotLad
"POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old man was slashed across the face during the Creamfields music festival. The victim, from Liverpool, was assaulted in the Swedish House Mafia tent at 5.30pm on Sunday, August 28 and had to have stitches in hospital. He was speaking to a friend when someone reached over the crowd and slashed his face with a bladed weapon. DC Neal Davison said: "There would have been a lot of people around at the time of this assault. “Most people would have been in high spirits and enjoying the atmosphere of Creamfields but if you saw anything please call the police as it is important we catch the unfortunate minority that choose to ruin the experience for others.” Anyone with information should call 0845 458 0000 quoting incident number 862 of 28 August, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111." Thought I'd post this here because I didn't want to link it, just incase anyone knows anything. Who was on at half 5 in shm tent?

megman
We were one of the first through the gates on Saturday – the gates were not supposed to open till 7am but they opened them at about 6.30 and we got through then. They shouldn’t have opened as they were so unorganised at that point. We kept saying that we were hospitality tickets and we were told it was one Q for everyone – even though there were signs for hospitality campers. There were only about 4 (max) lines open for searches and wristbands – some security guard was blocking the other lines off. But the lines were really far apart from each other. We walked up to “security” the lady said to my BF “why have you got 2 crates, the limit is 1” he replied that one was mine and she said “fine” and waved us through. Where the police was supposed to be there was two police men looking at the other queues and none for ours. We walked straight up to the wristband Q, once again we said “hospitality camping” they nodded and gave us our Gold wrist bands (we didn’t think anything of it as hospitality was gold last year) Wasn’t until we had problems getting in to the campsite that we realised the bands were wrong. We waited at the box office for nearly TWO hours later on Saturday morning trying to get the correct wristbands – we saw the “manager” but he wasn’t interested. In the end it wasn’t till we had our ID with address on, original tickets and receipt that we got the correct bands and food vouchers – they then told us they fort we were just trying it and found the tickets – like we would bother waiting for nearly 2hours in the rain!!! While waiting at the gates for our correct bands we saw about 20+ people that walked through without getting bands and were either called back by mates or came back 5mins later to get them. I was never patted down and the only time my bag was ever searched was when leaving the campsite into the arena. The only time my BF was searched was from campsite to arena and going in to the hospitality tent – to be fair the hospitality tent was the toughest security we came across all weekend. I was really surprised at the lack of security again this year but seems that we just arrived very early and not all checks were in place yet. Neither of us had anything we shouldn’t of had but im sure that’s not the case with everyone, but im glad the checks were tougher later on in the day. Delboy71
I think some of these comments need passing on to Cream. I can only comment on what I saw and when we arrived on Saturday afternoon security was tight. The fencinc was better than I last went in 2009. Both campers and day ticket holders were searched on arrival, sniffed by the dogs and everything was very organised. This was even more evident by the low scallie count (although the weather might have accounted for some of them) and the lack of any intimidating atmosphere in the Arena. Perhaps it took them a while to get sorted (not an excuse for them, just an observation) which means that the training and briefings were not up to scratch and not enough planning had gone into it. This was probably not helped by it being the first time they have had the Friday on as well. Hopefully lessons will be learnt.....
megman
Yer I totally agree. I think it just took them time to sort it out and also they opened the gates before time so maybe they didn’t have everyone in place. Plus you cant really blame the people who gave out the wristbands if they weren't given good instructions. It was a hassle getting the correct bands but it didn’t put a damper the weekend, just drinking time wasted haha. From what everyone is saying it got tight later in the day which is really good to hear. Security was defo better going in to the arena from the campsite this year and hospitality tent was really tight. You can search bags, have sniffer dogs and police but at the end of the day there are ppl who go that are always going to get things in they shouldn’t for whatever reason, its just life unfortunately.
