rollinstone
There are festivals where the absence of the Irish Nectar would have led to mini-riots (eg:Cambridge Folk fest...The Fleadh...),and that's before you get onto the thorny subject of just how it should be poured(a particular Cambridge chestnut)...Could this have been the reason for the Big G's absence??Was it that the Bar-Company couldn't afford the time,or be arsed to put a bit more effort into their set-up.The 'Stout'on offer was a very poor substitute IMO.Having had to traverse the (very beautiful) back-roads of Dorset to avoid The Great Dorset Steam Fair traffic (Tip from a local - Do not plan anything the same weekend as The Steam Fair...which has a very large footprint...and is held literally just a stones-throw from the Larmer Tree)and then re-enacted a scene from Spartacus on the rocky trail-of-tears to get my wrist-band (Was it designed by Cormac McCarthy by any chance?),I was really looking forward to finally settling down in the sylvan shade near the Garden Stage, but a trip to the bar,and.....'What...NO GUINNESS!!Aaaaaargghh!! There...I've got it off my chest. As a veteran of all the EOTR Festivals I still haven't quite made up my mind about 2011.I'll get my coat.....for the moment.
