rivalschools.price
not sure about the credibility of the poster. around the same time as reading/leeds http://www.punktasti...hp?f=2&t=105923 http://louderthanwar.com/featured/rancid-to-headline-rebellion-2012 Edited September 26, 2011 by rivalschools.price
Dan R
If they're ever gonna play it'd probably be then. Maybe with Rebellion paying some of their fees, the lock-up might be able to get them for cheaper while they're over here.

jump
Ooooooh! I'm off to Rebellion next year then it's been fucking time since I last saw them.
5co77ie
They don't tend to share many of their acts with R&L though a few played other punk festvals like EiiD this year. Last year's line-up included Cocksparrer, Jello Biafra And The Quantanamo School of Medicine, Pennywise, Bouncing Souls, Toyah, The Adicts, The Damned, Surfin' Turnips, Capdown, Citizen Fish, the Dickies, Captain Sensible, The Exploited, Pints & Pipes, Slaughter & The Dogs, The Beat, The Outcasts, Anti-Nowhere League, Uk Subs, Newtown Neurotics, 999, Major Accident, Argy Bargy, Goldblade, The Restarts, Random Hand, Red Alert, The Grit, Bootstroke, Heavy Metal Kids, Jaya The Cat, Splodgenessabounds, Reazione, Red Alert, and Drongos For Europe. 5co77ie
Most of their US/Canadian acts are usually over here for a fortnight at max- rather than a whole month - it is possible though I guess.
she bangs the drums
That's great news, I seem to remember Bad Religion headlining in 2010 and then headlined the Lock Up stage at R & L so there is hope. I guess a band like Rancid can do what they want, maybe that's why Rebellion are getting in there early before Rancid announce their 2012 World Tour and any other festival dates as they have said they are going to play everywhere in 2012. Looking at recent setlists, they have played near enough 40 song set lists! Edited September 27, 2011 by she bangs the drums
gazza_20
you'd have to say based on the bad religion thing that there's a good chance of getting them as a special guest unnanounced?

gazza_20
Not a chance in hell they will be an unnanounced special guests, it's slim chance of them playing as Mike has said he can't afford them on Lock Up's budget and if they do get them they will want to milk all of their booking fee from them and have them on the poster and Bad Religion were never special guests, they were headliners. gazza_20
this is rebellion is in the UK, but yes I think there is something special going on there and I reckon the only fest that would get them over R+L is Soni

Guckeery
That's true though they could end up on the Main Stage in about the same slot as NoFx had a few years ago with a possible special guest slot in the Lock Up Stage, Rancid maybe popular in terms of playing the Lock Up stage but if they played at R & L whilst someone like Mumford and Sons or Florence and the Machines were playing then I doubt there would be a problem getting to see them, the majoirty of R & L attendees these days will have never even heard of Rancid. mrtourette
Yeah, Rancid would be a good catch (although a reserved one to the wider audience) so they'd probably want to get them on the main stage as well as in the lock up. Guckeery
Once again from Rancid's facebook page: "August 5th - 2012 - Winter Gardens - Blackpool - UK. We will be playing Rebellion Punk Music Festival. More European and UK dates will be announced next year." Sheds a little more light on it. jump
That was always likely, most bands like to take advantage of the fests and do a tour to save themselves two trips, I was disappointed that Bosstones didn't do some more UK dates though. With the sun shining I went to the park earlier and was listening to Life Won't Wait and thought to myself they'd make a perfect mid-bill main band for the summer fests .
